Gakjip Bubu's Kim Min-jae revealed a shocking family history of being separated from his biological mother for a long time since age 8.
On the 30th, the previous episode of tvN STORY "Gakjip Bubu" aired, featuring Kim Min-jae and Choi Yoo-ra, married 10 years and living separately 10 years, and another chapter of Kim Min-jae's life unfolded.
Kim Min-jae confessed that after separating from his mother at age 8, he has been apart from his biological mother for a very long time until now.
Kim Min-jae said, "My mother and father ran a large shoe store, but it went bankrupt. There was deep conflict with my father," suggesting that his parents' conflict was the background for their separation. Kim Min-jae directed at his mother, "I was apart from my biological mother for such a long time. I do want to ask. Why was it so hard?" revealing long-held curiosity and resentment.
Kim Min-jae said he wanted to meet his mother to untie the knot in his heart and said, "I want to receive counseling," and during the ensuing counseling process he revealed deep inner wounds.
When the counselor asked why he did not see his mother despite probably wanting to, Kim Min-jae answered that it seemed because of his father. He said his father often criticized him by saying, "You are just like your mother," and because of that he could not even say he missed his mother. In the end, Kim Min-jae could not hold back his repressed feelings and cried out in tears.
The counselor empathized with Kim Min-jae's long-standing pain and cautiously suggested meeting his mother. The counselor advised, "Don't decide hastily; it may be good to proceed slowly as your feelings move," and offered to help Kim Min-jae recover the mother-son relationship that had been cut off for nearly 40 years.
