Singer G-Dragon (GD, G-DRAGON) will take the stage today (23rd) at the cultural performance during the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) leaders' summit welcome dinner.
G-Dragon will perform a welcome show on the evening of the 31st at the Grand Ballroom of Lahan Hotel in Gyeongju, at a dinner attended by leaders and high-level officials from 21 countries.
Having established himself as a "iKON" cultural icon by leading pioneering efforts in various fields beyond K-pop such as fashion, art and science and technology, G-Dragon was appointed as an APEC goodwill ambassador in July and has been active since.
A recent APEC promotional video featuring President Lee Jae-myung and IVE's Jang Won-young has drawn more than 17 million views and became a hot topic, and it received big applause when it became known that he even participated without a fee.
It is reported that G-Dragon showed enthusiasm during the production of the promotional video, traveling between Korea and the United States amid his busy U.S. world tour schedule to take part in filming. In particular, he clearly emphasized to the public the start of the APEC leaders' summit, demonstrating his continued influence.
G-Dragon will be the only K-pop artist to appear at this event. He is expected to elevate Korea's cultural stature through an innovative and creative performance full of G-Dragon's distinctive personality, raising anticipation for the stage.
The APEC leaders' summit planning and preparation team said, "G-Dragon, who has global influence, was appointed as a goodwill ambassador because he is the optimal person to powerfully convey APEC's values of consolidation and sustainability at home and abroad," and added, "We expect him to deliver an outstanding performance at the welcome dinner."
Meanwhile, G-Dragon began in March in Korea and passed through the Asia-Pacific region including Tokyo, Bulacan, Osaka, Macau, Sydney, Melbourne, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and Hong Kong, and concluded performances in major U.S. cities such as Newark, Las Vegas and Los Angeles, as well as shows in Paris, France and Osaka, Japan.
He will continue the third world tour, G-DRAGON 2025 WORLD TOUR [Übermensch], in November in Taipei and Hanoi, and in December in Seoul.
