Actor Jang Dong-ju posted on social media and was out of contact, but his whereabouts were confirmed and his safety verified four hours later.
Earlier on the morning of the 31st, Jang Dong-ju left only a brief message saying "I'm sorry" along with a black screen on his personal social media, raising questions.
Fans, the public and even officials at his agency were surprised by the unexplained apology and immediately tried to contact him. However, Jang Dong-ju's phone did not answer, and a representative of his agency Nexus ENM told OSEN, "We saw the social media post and are trying to reach Jang Dong-ju himself. We are checking the details."
Worried fans left comments on social media such as "What's wrong? Are you okay?" and "Why, is something wrong?", and senior actress Bang Eun-hee also expressed concern for her junior, asking, "Is something wrong?"
Jang Dong-ju finished filming the SBS new drama "Starting today, I am human" and the show is scheduled for release next year. A representative for the drama told OSEN, "Filming for the production is all finished. We saw news about actor Jang Dong-ju and are checking the details (including his welfare)," showing a cautious response.
Four hours after the social media upload, news of Jang Dong-ju finally arrived. Fortunately, his whereabouts were confirmed and it was reported that there was no bad situation.
A representative for Jang Dong-ju told OSEN, "First, we apologize for causing worry and for the delay in confirming and contacting him," adding, "Fortunately, we have confirmed the actor's whereabouts. It has been confirmed that it is not a bad situation. We apologize again for causing concern."
However, representatives for Jang Dong-ju and his agency are withholding comment on why he suddenly posted the message "I'm sorry" on social media and whether he had been out of contact with managers or close associates.
Born in 1994, Jang Dong-ju made his debut in 2012 in the play "A Midsummer Night's Dream." He later began appearing on screen through the drama "School 2017," which brought him broader recognition. He subsequently appeared in dramas such as "Criminal Minds," "Mr. Temporary," "Honest Candidate" and "Trigger." In particular, in 2021 he was praised for a good deed after witnessing a hit-and-run drunk driving incident and personally apprehending the perpetrator.
His next project is the SBS new drama "Starting today, I am human," in which he worked with Kim Hye-yoon and Lo Mong, and it is scheduled to premiere in 2026.
