TV CHOSUN documentary entertainment show Joseon's romantic draws first public, heartfelt confession from singer Im Jeong-hee, who became a public sensation after marrying a ballet dancer six years her junior and announcing a natural pregnancy at 44.
In a preview video for Joseon's romantic that will air Monday, Nov. 3, Im Jeong-hee began by saying, "About two months after getting married, I first learned I was pregnant." She said, "I don't think I felt anything because I wasn't prepared. I had a miscarriage early on, but I was performing at the time, so even though I knew, I couldn't have the procedure at the hospital and went on stage for the performance," she said, calmly sharing the pain of the sudden pregnancy discovered early in her marriage and the abrupt loss of the child.
Im Jeong-hee recalled, "Those moments were so hard...I cried backstage from time to time." She said, "I remember crying a lot with my husband after the performance. When I was on stage, that feeling...I can't put it into words. Rather than feeling sad or distressed..." she cautiously revealed her inner feelings. Im Jeong-hee continued, "I couldn't cancel the performance...so I think I poured those feelings into the song during the show," which brought tears to her eyes and sympathy from viewers.
Im Jeong-hee debuted in 2005 with Music is My Life and released numerous hit songs including That Can't Be True and Clockwork. She later appeared in various musicals and variety shows, winning public affection. Im Jeong-hee married ballet dancer Kim Hee-hyun, who is six years her junior, in October 2023 and drew attention this year by announcing a natural pregnancy at the age of 44.
Meanwhile, Joseon's romantic, which will mark its 100th episode with the Nov. 3 broadcast, is entering a period of reorganization. Joseon's romantic, which will bring more romantics and various forms of love, is scheduled to return to viewers on Monday, Dec. 22.
The behind-the-scenes story of singer Im Jeong-hee's heartbreak of parting and the joy of birth surrounding the "44-year-old natural pregnancy" will be revealed on TV CHOSUN's hyperrealistic documentary entertainment show Joseon's romantic, airing Monday, Nov. 3 at 10 p.m.
