In "Brave Detective 4," they pursue traces of a concealed murder to the end.
The 56th episode of T-cast E Channel's Brave Detective 4 (directed by Lee Ji-sun), airing on the 31st, features detectives Park Won-sik and Lee Yoon-hyung and former Commissioner Yoon Oe-chul and Inspector Kim Jin-su of the Korea Crime Scene Investigation (KCSI) revealing their investigative records.
The episode begins when a dispatch order reports that a woman is lying collapsed on a mountain in a certain area. A middle-aged woman was found face down and already dead on a foil mat in the woods about 20 meters off the trail. Half-eaten food was scattered nearby, and it is believed she was attacked while eating a packed meal in a sparsely populated area.
The victim's bag zipper was open and her wallet was missing, and her top and underwear were undone, suggesting a possible sexual assault. The investigative team tracked escape routes, but because the crime scene connected to multiple mountains, it was difficult to narrow the search area. Eventually the team made a risky move to catch the perpetrator, and a mysterious phone call came into the police station. The caller admitted to being "the perpetrator of the incident." Why did he call and make near-confessional remarks? The episode digs into the case that occurred on a secluded trail.
Next, KCSI pursues the reality of a death that almost would have been buried without anyone knowing. After a report that there was a man "walking around giving off the smell of glue," detectives immediately responded and confronted a man carrying glue in a black plastic bag. His household appeared to have been neglected and in disarray for a long time. A detective sensing something amiss questioned the man, and in that process a missing person case surfaced. Four years earlier, while the man had been to prison, the mother he had been living with disappeared.
Detectives who persistently pursued the mother's whereabouts found an unexpected clue and, after a year of investigation, came close to the mother's final movements. The full stories behind the hiker murder and the glue murder can be seen in "Brave Detective 4."
