Han Sun-hwa of First Ride revealed Cha Eun-woo's first impression and also mentioned an impressive attitude.
On the afternoon of the 30th at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul, an interview was held with Han Sun-hwa, the lead actress of the film First Ride.
The film First Ride (director Nam Dae-jung, distributed by SHOWBOX, produced by Brain Shower and TH Story) is a comedy about 24-year friends who are funnier together: Tae-jeong, the guy who sees things through (Kang Ha-neul); Do-jin, the bright guy (Kim Young-kwang); Yeon-min, the handsome guy (Cha Eun-woo); Geum-bok, the guy who sleeps with his eyes open (Kang Young-seok); and Ok-sim, the lovely girl (Han Sun-hwa), who set off on their first overseas trip together. On its opening day on the 29th, it drew 82,687 viewers, surpassing the Japanese animation film Chainsaw Man the Movie: Reze Arc to take first place at the box office.
Han Sun-hwa delivered a strong performance as Ok-sim, the film's only female character. She is a lovely character who follows Tae-jeong around, secretly in love with him.
Former girl group Secret member turned actress Han Sun-hwa has been active across drama and film this year, from the tvN drama The Divorce Insurance to the new film First Ride. She is also scheduled to appear in the new E Channel variety show Life Knockout: Jeong Seung-je Boarding House, which will air in November.
When told the film recorded the top opening score, she smiled brightly and said, "I'm very grateful. It's an honor to take first place, and I will continue with stage greetings and promotional activities hoping we can stay at number one."
She said she was offered the role in February, "The script was so fun. It was easy to imagine. I laughed while reading it and read the script three times in one sitting. It was easy to read," adding, "Above all, it was an honor to be able to work with senior Ha-neul. I briefly shared a scene with Ha-neul during the pilot, so when I heard he was cast I was happy. There was also the excitement of 'Could we meet again?'"
She said she visited the set even when she wasn't shooting, "There was a day when Eun-woo and the other actors were all gathered. I thought I should go, so I went. At that time they were filming the Netflix series Scandal. I went on a day when everyone was gathered because I was curious about the filming atmosphere."
However, Han Sun-hwa and Cha Eun-woo did not share any scenes in the film, so they were unable to perform together. "I wanted to shoot with Eun-woo but we didn't film a single scene together. If we had seen each other more often we'd probably have become closer, but we only met at the formal introduction, the reading, and when I visited the set, and after that we couldn't meet. I was surprised by how manly he was. His attitude was poised," she said, "It's really a shame our scenes didn't overlap. If we had seen each other more often and worked together on set, there would have been more joyful moments; that's the regret I have."
Han Sun-hwa added, "One day I was discussing hair concepts with the director and Eun-woo said, 'Noona, I think this suits you better.' I was so grateful. So I filmed with that hairstyle. He asked, 'Haven't you done this hairstyle often?' Even though he's younger, he was so reassuring," and she smiled, "At the introduction meal Eun-woo sat next to me; he grilled meat well and his voice was so nice. I kept thinking how great it would have been to see him more often. Although I didn't actually see him much, there is an inner intimacy."
