Long-running success on music charts, three consecutive million-sellers, a solo tour and participation in the world's largest festival. BOYNEXTDOOR achieved these this year. They are building a distinctive presence with fierce momentum.
BOYNEXTDOOR, after steady growth, significantly increased their scale domestically and internationally this year. They proved a strong fandom with album sales, solidified a popular position on streaming charts, and confirmed themselves as a team strong on live stages. Some have referred to them as "post-5th generation." That response comes from the view that, given their increased scale, they can no longer be confined to a simple generational theory.
BOYNEXTDOOR's consolidation of their presence began with the first digital single they released in January, "오늘만 I LOVE YOU." The upbeat melody breakup song captured the public's heart and dominated the charts. The song entered Melon's January monthly chart at No. 23, rose to No. 7 in February and remained in the top 10 for four months. BOYNEXTDOOR is the only boy group with a song released at the start of the year that still remains on the monthly chart.
In addition, the title track "Hollywood Action" from mini album 5 "The Action," released on the 20th, successfully landed in the top 20 at No. 18 on Melon's daily chart on the 28th. In the first week after release it entered the weekly chart at No. 21, raising expectations for further rises. It is especially encouraging that they continue to achieve such results on streaming charts, where boy groups often struggle.
Their albums also smashed their own records, producing a "box office jackpot." Mini album 4 "No Genre," released in May, recorded first-week sales of 1.16 million, breaking the team's highest sales. Mini album 5 "The Action" also sold more than 1 million copies, achieving three consecutive million-sellers. Compared with the debut single "WHO!" first-week sales of 110,442, this represents roughly a tenfold growth.
They added notable achievements in live performances as well. BOYNEXTDOOR launched a tour just 1 year and 7 months after debut, based on a rich setlist. That is the fastest among groups that debuted around the same time. With their first solo tour, BOYNEXTDOOR TOUR "KNOCK ON Vol.1," which began in December last year, they performed 23 shows across 13 cities.
In August they performed at the world's largest music festival, Lollapalooza Chicago. Although the stage allotted to them was not very large, far more fans attended than expected, proving intense interest. The performance was streamed live on Weverse and drew viewers from 179 countries and regions worldwide, including Korea, the U.K., France, Germany, Indonesia and Japan, receiving considerable attention.
In this way BOYNEXTDOOR has added various achievements and risen to become a leading group representing K-pop. Having grown in scale and begun to operate in bigger arenas, their future activities are a subject of interest. Attention is focused on the next chapter of BOYNEXTDOOR, which has risen spectacularly.<
