'HYBE global group' &TEAM(Enteam) is writing a new history by producing various record-breaking achievements as soon as they debuted in Korea.
On Oct. 28, according to the latest chart released by Oricon (dated Oct. 28), &TEAM (Uiju, Fuma, K, Nicholas, Yuma, Jo, Harua, Taki, Maki)'s Korean mini album 1st 'Back to Life' took first place on the daily album ranking. Although Korean artists have frequently topped Oricon, this is the first time a Japanese artist's Korean album has reached No. 1 on this chart.
&TEAM's 'Back to Life' recorded cumulative first-day sales of 1,139,988 copies. With this, they not only achieved back-to-back million-seller status following their third Japanese single 'Go in Blind,' but also went straight to No. 1 on the Hanteo Chart (dated Oct. 28) in the album sector, marking a meaningful milestone in sweeping both Korean and Japanese charts.
In particular, 1,139,988 copies is more than double the first-day sales of 'Go in Blind' (about 569,000 copies), raising greater expectations for future trends. 'Go in Blind' took about three months to receive million certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan, and &TEAM's growth, which achieved a career high overnight with this Korean debut album, stands out.
Japanese media simultaneously reported the news as breaking news and devoted front-page coverage. Sports Hochi, Nikkan Sports and others noted that &TEAM is the first Japanese artist to achieve million-seller status in both Korea and Japan, drawing attention to their leap. Japanese morning information programs such as Fuji TV's Mezamashi Terebi and Asahi TV's Good Morning also covered &TEAM's Korean debut activities as major news.
HYBE's new growth strategy (HYBE 2.0), which positions 'advancing the multi-label system' and 'specifics of a multi-home, multi-genre strategy' as core keywords in the music business field, is also expected to gain further momentum.
Earlier, &TEAM's agency YX Labels (formerly HYBE Labels Japan) changed its name and expressed its ambition to "establish a new 'axis (aXis)' in the Japanese music market." The goal is to realize 'Beyond Japan,' which spreads more attractive entertainment experiences globally, and to establish itself in Japan as a leader comparable to HYBE's standing in Korea.
&TEAM is a nine-member group formed through HYBE's 2022 global boy group debut project '&AUDITION - The Howling.' Except for Korean leader Uiju and Taiwanese member Nicholas, the other seven members are all Japanese. YX Labels also recently successfully debuted J-pop boy group aoen.
