Singer Yang Hee-eun opened a cafe arranged with works her mother painted while alive. It was a space solely to honor her mother. Yang Hee-eun said, "I used to take my mother to painting classes every Wednesday. She would say, 'Are you going to become an idiot who can't do anything?' She said she cared for her mother even while living in New York and that her mother had a room wherever they went. Behind that was her feeling of regret for her mother's life as the eldest daughter. In the 1970s, when divorce was uncommon, her mother fought with her father and ran away in a fit of anger, and Yang Hee-eun's father brought another woman home that same night. Yang Hee-eun shook her head bitterly, saying, "My father was crazy."
Yang Hee-eun said, "They ended up divorcing like that. There's a grievance. My mother would say, 'I should have endured,' and it became a grievance. She regretted it every time she walked holding her parents' hands." She lived her entire life for her mother.
