tvN "Typhoon Family" is raising excitement with the office-romance between Lee Junho and Kim Minha. Following its No. 1 rating in the same time slot across all channels, it has also claimed No. 1 in buzz for both the drama and its cast.
tvN's weekend drama "Typhoon Family" (directed by Lee Najung and Kim Dong-hwi, written by Jang Hyun, planned by Studio Dragon, produced by Imaginus, Studio PIC and Tris Studio) is bringing a ratings typhoon to living rooms. After taking No. 1 in the same time slot across all channels, it ranked No. 1 in the TV-OTT drama category for the fourth week of October, according to FUNdex, the TV-content competitiveness analysis index released by Good Data Corporation. In cast buzz, Lee Junho ranked No. 1 and Kim Minha placed fourth, driving the explosive response to "Typhoon Family." Also, it entered Netflix's global top 10 for TV (non-English) for two consecutive weeks, continuing its global success.
Above all, the office-romance between Kang Taepung (Lee Junho) and Oh Miseon (Kim Minha) is creating deep afterglow and excitement, drawing hotter responses with each episode. The two first met on the subway. Taepung, who hadn't slept a wink after tending roses all night at a greenhouse the day before, could not fend off drowsiness and dropped his head onto Miseon's shoulder while she waited for the subway. A later scene in the subway in which they glance at each other conveyed their subtle emotions perfectly without a single line of dialogue. Kim Minha also recalled, "The timing of their eye contact kept missing, and even while filming it was really ticklish," and the scene left viewers with intense thrill, becoming a memorable moment replayed many times.
Later, when Taepung hurried to the hospital after hearing that his father Kang Jinyoung (Sung Dong-il) had collapsed, he collided with Miseon and fell, continuing their connection. What seemed like a passing encounter then continued when, days later, Taepung appeared saying he would become an employee at his father's company. Then a problem with Italian fabric critical to the company's fate put Typhoon Family at risk of collapse. Employees who needed a livelihood immediately began to leave one by one, and Taepung was handed a business closure notice. But on the night he thought everything was over, Taepung went to Miseon and announced a change of representative instead of filing for closure. He then discouraged her from changing jobs and proposed, "Will you become Typhoon Family's office worker?" This scene was Taepung's resolve to protect his father's 26-year legacy and his most passionate proposal to Miseon, giving viewers more thrill than any proposal.
Thus, amid the IMF, the two became company president and junior manager.
