Shin's Project actor Kim Sung-o gave viewers a heavy emotional impact and finished on a high note.
Kim Sung-o played Detective Choi Cheol, who uncovers the truth of an incident from 15 years ago, in the tvN Monday-Tuesday drama Shin's Project, which concluded on the 28th, revealing an overwhelming presence as Shin's (played by Han Suk-kyu) key aide and holder of the key to solving the case.
Until now Choi Cheol carried the guilt and responsibility over the incident in which Shin's child was sacrificed 15 years ago and carried out reckless actions without regard for danger. Even while wounded by the knife of murderer Yoon Dong-hee (played by Min Seong-wook), he relentlessly pursued the case without yielding. In that process, Kim Sung-o captivated viewers from the early episodes with intense eyes and a performance of determination.
Choi Cheol's efforts peaked when he dealt a blow to the final villain Lee Heo-jun (played by Park Hyuk-kwon). Choi Cheol led a bold operation that turned the situation around into "kidnapper Yoon Dong-hee, hostage Shin" for the incident in which Shin abducted Yoon Dong-hee. Furthermore, he lured Lee Heo-jun to the scene and achieved a three-way confrontation with Shin and Yoon Dong-hee, playing a decisive role in drawing out the forces behind the case.
In particular, when Shin's anger exploded at Lee Heo-jun's outrageous claim that his son's death was a simple accident, Choi Cheol exercised cold-blooded judgment and succeeded in having special forces capture Lee Heo-jun. Kim Sung-o delivered intense catharsis to viewers by becoming Choi Cheol, who completed his mission as a detective.
Afterward, Kim Sung-o delicately portrayed Choi Cheol's humane and warm side as he offered comforting words to Shin, saying "I'm sorry and thank you," after the case was solved, bringing viewers to tears. Finally, Choi Cheol was recognized for his role in solving the Yoon Dong-hee case and received a special promotion, giving viewers a happy ending.
