The group BOYNEXTDOOR's mini fifth album "The Action" received praise from major foreign media.
British music magazine NME said, "BOYNEXTDOOR, true to the new album's title 'The Action,' leaps in without fear and is growing," and added, "They combine genre experimentation that crosses pop, hip-hop and rock with a free sensibility to ingeniously portray the various moments youth experience. Their witty storytelling and playful attitude earn empathy across generations," praising their musical ability.
NME also noted BOYNEXTDOOR's (Seongho, Liu, Myung Jaehyun, Taesan, I Han, Unhak) steep growth. "Since debut they have released five mini albums and expanded their presence on major stages worldwide, including solo tours and Lollapalooza Chicago," noting how rapidly they have widened their range of activities. "On this album they show a new side with deeper teamwork. They constantly seek contact with the world to become a group that can resonate with all generations," it praised.
British magazine Clash said, "The new record captures the thrill of action, challenge and growth. Based on their characteristic honesty and passion, it candidly and warmly unfolds the moments of challenge, friendship, love and hurt that youth experience," lauding the album's message. "'The Action' is the result of recording feelings that are at once personal and universal," it said, focusing on the album's meaning. It also noted, "I Han joining Myung Jaehyun, Taesan and Unhak in the title track credits has further solidified the group's distinctive color."
U.S. magazine StyleCaster said, "It's natural that the new album is titled 'The Action.' Nothing can stop BOYNEXTDOOR now," highlighting their upward momentum. Billboard Brazil said, "The album carries the theme that to accomplish something you must act yourself. The members participated in every track and were actively involved in all stages of the album's production." U.S. music magazine Rolling Stone selected "Hollywood Action" as a "song to know this week," spotlighting their music.
BOYNEXTDOOR's mini fifth album "The Action," released on the 20th, is an album that condenses the desire for growth. If their previous work "No Genre" declared they would not define themselves as any one thing, this time they convey the determination to jump in without setting limits. In addition to Myung Jaehyun, Taesan and Unhak, who have consistently written songs, I Han is credited, showing the team's strengthened capabilities.
The mini fifth album "The Action" sold a total of 1,041,802 copies in the week following its release, according to Hanteo Chart. With this, BOYNEXTDOOR achieved three consecutive million-selling records following mini third album "19.99" and mini fourth album "No Genre."
