G-DRAGON (hereafter G-Dragon) will take the stage for the cultural performance at the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) leaders' welcome dinner.
APEC goodwill ambassador G-Dragon will appear in the welcome dinner performance to be held on the evening of the 31st at the Grand Banquet Hall of Rahan Hotel in Gyeongju, attended by leaders and senior officials from 21 countries. As the only K-pop artist to stand on this stage, G-Dragon is expected to raise Korea's cultural standing and contribute to the successful hosting of the event through an innovative and creative performance.
Having established himself as a "cultural icon" by leading trends beyond K-pop in fashion, art and science and technology, G-Dragon was appointed APEC goodwill ambassador in July and has been active since. In particular, the APEC promotional video featuring G-Dragon became a major topic, receiving praise that it "opened a new horizon in promoting international events" and recording more than 17 million views as of the 27th. It was reported that G-Dragon showed dedication during the production of the promotional video, traveling between Korea and the United States and participating in filming despite a busy schedule for his U.S. world tour.
The APEC leaders' summit preparation planning team said, "We appointed G-Dragon as goodwill ambassador because he is the optimal person to powerfully convey APEC's values of connection and sustainability at home and abroad," and added, "We expect him to show an outstanding performance at the welcome dinner."
Meanwhile, G-Dragon, who has delivered forward-looking messages by crossing the boundaries of art and science and technology, proved his global popularity by successfully concluding performances starting in Korea and across the Asia-Pacific region including Tokyo, Bulacan, Osaka, Macau, Sydney, Melbourne, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and Hong Kong, and U.S. major cities such as Newark, Las Vegas and Los Angeles, as well as a performance in Paris, France. He will continue the third leg of his world tour, G-DRAGON 2025 WORLD TOUR 'Übermensch', following Osaka on the 20th and 21st, with concerts in Taipei and Hanoi in November and Seoul in December.
