TV CHOSUN's new Monday-Tuesday miniseries 'There Is No Next Life' presents the scene of Kim Hee-seon, Han Hye-jin and Jin Seo-yeon recreating their peak looks from 20 years ago as a 'complete best-friends reunion.'
On Nov. 10 (Mon) at 10 p.m., TV CHOSUN's new Monday-Tuesday miniseries 'There Is No Next Life' (directed by Kim Jeong-min / written by Shin I-won / produced by TM E Group, Firstman Studio, Megaphone) tells the comedic coming-of-age story of three 41-year-old friends exhausted by the daily sameness of childcare wars and grind-like working life as they fumble toward a better "complete life."
In 'There Is No Next Life,' Kim Hee-seon plays Jo Na-jung, a once-promising shopping host who is now a "return-to-work mom" with two sons; Han Hye-jin plays Koo Joo-young, head of planning at an art center who seems perfect on the surface but is trying everything she can to have a child with a sexless husband; and Jin Seo-yeon plays Lee Il-ri, deputy editor at a magazine who holds romantic illusions about marriage. Their 20-year friendship amplifies empathetic synergy.
In that regard, Kim Hee-seon, Han Hye-jin and Jin Seo-yeon recreate a scene that evokes the brilliant ambition and enthusiasm of their 2005 college theater club days. In the drama, Jo Na-jung blows out the candles with a beaming smile at a birthday cake brought by Koo Joo-young and Lee Il-ri during rehearsal, and the three later drink together late at night on a corner of the university campus, pledging the friendship of their 20s. The three friends, full of vigor and passion, raised anticipation for the story to come by looking as they did 20 years ago.
Meanwhile, in the 'complete best-friends reunion' scene, Kim Hee-seon, Han Hye-jin and Jin Seo-yeon, dressed in retro outfits, delivered natural ad-libbing and explosive reactions fitting a surprise birthday party from 20 years ago, perfectly embodying the vividness of friendship among 20-something youths and impressing the staff.
Kim Hee-seon said, "Han Hye-jin and Jin Seo-yeon are both professional and considerate actors. There's no need to worry about chemistry at all," Han Hye-jin said, "They're the best. It's so comfortable and fun. The greatest joy is having gotten to know the two through this drama," and Jin Seo-yeon said, "It feels like we hadn't even rehearsed together because our rhythm is so good. It really feels like friends," expressing happiness about their rapport.
The production team said, "This scene once again proves the solid, deep acting skills Kim Hee-seon, Han Hye-jin and Jin Seo-yeon have built up. Please look forward to the three actors filling living rooms this fall."
Meanwhile, 'There Is No Next Life' will premiere on Nov. 10 (Mon) at 10 p.m. and will be available for streaming on Netflix.
