Park So-hyun grants an appearance on Radio Star to tell stories ranging from behind-the-scenes of the final recording of the program she did for 26 years to her life in radio and variety shows. She recounts ties with seniors and juniors in the broadcasting world, talk befitting the queen of forgetfulness, and even reveals her steady self-care secrets, filling the studio with laughter and empathy.
MBC's Radio Star, airing today (29th) (planned by Kang Young-sun / directed by Hwang Yoon-sang and Byun Da-hee), is presented as a special called 'Four-person debate, run it' featuring Jeong Gwan-yong, Park So-hyun, Lee Jae-yul and Tsuki.
Park So-hyun honestly explains, "I usually declined talk show appearances because my memory is poor." She added, "Still, Radio Star's MC Kim Guk-jin is someone who shared my 20s. Even if I can't remember, I thought he would speak for me, so I decided to appear," creating a warm feeling.
She recalls the final recording of 'Unbelievable Stories' that she hosted for 26 years. She said, "Even producers who had resigned came with flowers and I choked up," and confessed, "When I saw teacher Im Seong-hoon cry, I held back, thinking 'I must not cry.'" The MCs were also moved by the calm closing of that farewell moment.
In particular, she spoke warmly of MC Im Seong-hoon, who worked with her for 26 years, saying, "He raised me as an MC," and expressed gratitude to Im Seong-hoon for gradually increasing Park So-hyun's airtime and showing consideration.
Stories of experiments from the 'Curiosity Heaven' days are also recalled. She recalled the unique content of that time, saying, "We did experiments like setting farts on fire and floating paper boats." She, who says she has almost no memory of the past, joked, "Still, that corner remains vivid," bringing laughter.
Park So-hyun began as a radio DJ in 1994 with MBC's Park So-hyun's FM Date and has been hosting SBS's Park So-hyun's Love Game since 1999 for 25 years. With her distinctive delicate sensibility and empathetic talk with listeners, she has established herself as a long-running DJ. She surprised everyone by revealing the anecdote that when she was first offered Park So-hyun's Love Game, she initially declined even though it was a prime-time radio slot, and she teases curiosity by saying she will reveal the unexpected secret that allowed her to continue so long.
Park So-hyun also shares an amusing anecdote about her close friend Song Eun-i. She says Song Eun-i blocked her marriage prospects and they were on the verge of cutting ties, but she couldn't bring herself to be angry at Song Eun-i—an episode she reveals, which heightens curiosity about what exactly happened between the two.
She also shows the traits of a small eater, saying, "I've maintained 46~47kg for decades." She said, "My father also eats little," revealing that small appetite runs in the family and provoking laughter. Meanwhile, it is said that she surprised the set with a shocking declaration(?) that she recently stopped eating little, raising curiosity.
Park So-hyun's candid wit, loved for her steady self-care and sincere broadcasting philosophy, can be seen on Radio Star airing today (29th) at 10:30 p.m.
