A reliable, must-see Jang Seung-jo–style ambitious character is coming.
Jang Seung-jo has confirmed he will appear in SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama Shinsegae (directed by Han Tae-seop / written by Kang Hyun-joo). Shinsegae is a drama that depicts the "hate-love" romance between the astonishing Joseon villainess Shin Seori (Lim Ji-yeon) and South Korea's ruthless chaebol Cha Sae-gye (Heo Nam-jun).
In the drama, Jang Seung-jo plays Choi Moon-do, president of Chail Construction, the core enterprise of Cha-il Group, a leading corporations. Choi Moon-do (played by Jang Seung-jo) is Cha Sae-gye's fifth cousin and a man harboring ambition. He is outstanding not only in ability but also in interpersonal relations and public image, and Jang Seung-jo's transformation into a capable, ambitious business figure is generating anticipation.
Previously, Jang Seung-jo received much love for creating distinctive characters in each work with steady acting skills and delicate emotional lines. In particular, in last year's drama Nothing Uncovered, he played famous novelist and second-generation chaebol Seol Woo-jae, whose shifts between tenderness and darkness not only raised the drama's immersion but also delivered the genre's thriller thrills, earning praise from viewers. Also, Jang Seung-jo's signature ambitious character attracted attention starting with MBC's drama Donkkot. All eyes are on the burning desire of the ambitious character he will portray, written with glittering eyes.
Meanwhile, Jang Seung-jo is set for the Netflix series As You Stood By, which will be released on Nov. 7. As You Stood By is a Netflix series that tells the story of two women who decide to commit murder in the face of a reality they cannot escape unless they die or kill, and who become embroiled in unexpected events. Jang Seung-jo plays dual roles: Noh Jin-pyo, a husband who is socially respected by everyone but does not allow his wife freedom, and Jang Kang, a man with the same face but a completely opposite aura.
Meanwhile, SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama Shinsegae, where audiences can meet Jang Seung-jo's signature ambitious character Choi Moon-do, is scheduled to air in 2026.
