Group BTS leader RM will deliver the keynote speech as a speaker at the APEC CEO Summit, a side event of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders' meeting held today (the 29th) in Gyeongju.
On the 29th, BTS RM is scheduled to speak at the Gyeongju Arts Center from 3:05 p.m. for about 10 minutes on the second day of the APEC CEO Summit on the topic "APEC region's cultural creative industries and the soft power of K-culture."
APEC explained on its website, RM (Kim Nam-joon) "shows remarkable versatility that crosses genres. A creative force and avid arts enthusiast, he is known for crafting profound lyrics inspired by voracious artistic forms. With a flexible and philosophical approach to music and cutting-edge collaborations, he has the ability to break creative boundaries."
RM is the first K-pop singer to speak at this event. With this speech, RM plans to promote the influence of K-pop and the status of K-culture to the world.
Earlier, in September 2018 RM spoke in English at the United Nations General Assembly in New York as a global youth representative and special speaker representing BTS. At that time RM conveyed the message, "Tell yourself who you are, where you came from, what your skin color is, what your gender identity is. Tell yourself to find your name and find your voice."
After that, RM also spoke at the U.N. General Assembly in September 2020 and September 2021. There is curiosity about what message RM will deliver in this CEO Summit speech.
Meanwhile, the APEC CEO Summit is a business forum where leaders from 21 member economies and business leaders gather to discuss innovative industries and new trends that are reshaping the global economic landscape, and this year it is held in Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do under the theme "Beyond, Business, Bridge."
