Yoojin, Ji Hyun-woo and Lee Min-young have proven sizzling popularity with a late unstoppable rise, and unveiled the "final viewing points" that foreshadow a shocking, far-reaching ending.
MBN's Wednesday-Thursday miniseries "First Lady" (writer Kim Hyung-wan, director Lee Ho-hyun, produced by Studio Gidam, Artist Studio, Roadshow Plus) was back in the top five on Netflix's "Top 10 series in Korea today" chart as of Oct. 26 on FlixPatrol, the global OTT platform content ranking aggregator, writing a legend of a stormlike "ranking comeback surge."
Also, on Lemino, the OTT platform operated by Japan's largest carrier NTT Docomo, it ranked No. 2 in the Hallyu Asia drama category "today's ranking" as of Oct. 23, and throughout the broadcast it achieved the feat of ranking in the top two to top five in the Hallyu Asia drama category. In addition, on Rakuten Viki, the global OTT platform in the Americas and Europe, it charted in the weekly top 10 based on viewers in the Americas as of its fourth week of airing, proving its enduring global buzz.
In this regard, with only two episodes left until the finale, we have summarized three "final viewing points" that you must not miss and should focus on in "First Lady."
▶Yoojin (Cha Soo-yeon) #Did she collude with the chairman of H Group? What secret has she been hiding?
Cha Soo-yeon (played by Yoojin) faced a life-or-death crisis when the "Do Tae-hoon special law" that her husband Hyun Min-cheol (played by Ji Hyun-woo) had tried by all means to stop was passed. Hyun Min-cheol was on the verge of becoming president and Cha Soo-yeon was about to become the glamorous first lady, but when her husband announced he wanted a divorce, she was thrown into turmoil. She made an all-out effort to block the special law by mentioning a deal from five years ago to H Group chairman Yang Hoon (played by Lee Si-kang) as well as President Yoo Jin-myung (played by Lee Jong-hyuk) and first lady Park Sang-hee (played by Baek Ji-won), but ultimately failed. When Hyun Min-cheol asked why she opposed the special law, Cha Soo-yeon evaded the question to the end, saying, "You could have just trusted me," and finally the explosive revelation that Um Soon-jung's (played by Jo Young-ji) daughter Lee Hwa-jin (played by Han Su-a) was "Hyun Min-cheol's child out of wedlock" emerged. Notably, Cha Soo-yeon was investigated by the police as the perpetrator of Um Soon-jung's hit-and-run, and although she protected and covered for her housekeeper Seong Hyun-sook (played by Kim Gwak-kyung-hee), who was driving her car at the time, Seong the housekeeper suffered a serious traffic accident caused by Yang Hoon. Faced with successive crises and isolated, questions focus on why Cha Soo-yeon could not tell Hyun Min-cheol the reason for opposing the special law, what collusion she had with Yang Hoon, and whether all the secrets she has hidden for power and ambition will be exposed — attention is on the final "Pandora's box."
▶Ji Hyun-woo (Hyun Min-cheol) #Shocked by Shin Hae-rin's murder confession! Will he uncover the truth related to the special law?
Fifteen years ago, Hyun Min-cheol challenged himself to become president to uncover the truth behind the H Chemical fire that killed many workers, including his friend Do Tae-hoon (played by Kim Han), and he devoted himself to passing his first pledge, the "Do Tae-hoon special law." To protect Cha Soo-yeon, Hyun Min-cheol chose to divorce her as if there were a certain connection with Yang Hoon, but he was horrified when first lady Park Sang-hee revealed that Cha Soo-yeon was the one blocking the special law. Having lived only for the special law, Hyun Min-cheol was shocked to learn of the schemes his wife Cha Soo-yeon, his trusted political partner, had carried out to stop the law, and he fell into greater confusion when Cha Soo-yeon was pointed to as the perpetrator of his former lover Um Soon-jung's hit-and-run. Still, Hyun Min-cheol showed responsibility by appearing at the police station even while suspecting that his wife Cha Soo-yeon, who was steeped in schemes and suspicious secrets, might be the hit-and-run perpetrator. Moreover, he was stunned when he heard Shin Hae-rin's confession that she was the one who killed Um Soon-jung. Viewers are increasingly curious whether Hyun Min-cheol will finally identify the real culprit in the hit-and-run between Cha Soo-yeon and Shin Hae-rin and uncover the truth related to the special law.
▶Lee Min-young (Shin Hae-rin) #Is she the real hit-and-run killer? What is the whole story of Um Soon-jung's hit-and-run?
Shin Hae-rin, who was called Hyun Min-cheol's "funeral team" because she knew his secrets inside out, served as chief secretary of the election committee and a closest aide, showing extreme loyalty, but she raised the mystery by employing meticulous schemes that used any means necessary to achieve the goal of passing the special law. Especially after Hyun Min-cheol decided to divorce Cha Soo-yeon, who was an obstacle to the special law, Shin Hae-rin, who had showered him with fervent support, felt betrayed when he hesitated to go through with the divorce and became increasingly unilateral in her actions. After leaving the transition committee without Hyun Min-cheol, Shin Hae-rin asked Kang Seon-ho (played by Kang Seung-ho) to steal the compromising files, and when Hyun Min-cheol obtained the files but said they could not be used, she cried out, "Do what you must as president. This is my matter." But when the long-awaited special law passed, Shin Hae-rin, who oddly began calmly cleaning up her surroundings, confessed, "I am the one who killed Um Soon-jung," declaring herself the real culprit in the hit-and-run and bringing about catastrophe. Whether Shin Hae-rin is truly the killer who ran over Um Soon-jung or sacrificed herself for Hyun Min-cheol, attention is focused on the truth of the hit-and-run.
The production team said, "In the remaining 11th and 12th episodes, all the foreshadowing that has built up will explode at once and truths related to Yoojin, Ji Hyun-woo and Lee Min-young will come to light," and added, "Please watch to the end to see the completely unpredictable final ending and the masterful acting of Yoojin, Ji Hyun-woo and Lee Min-young, whose overwhelming skills grow with each episode."
