Yoon Min-su, preparing for a new start after his divorce, drew viewers' attention when he received an unexpected "live-in offer." Of course, the person was his mother.
On the Jan. 26 broadcast of SBS entertainment show "My Ugly Duckling," moving day D-DAY was shown. The last day of a 20-year marriage was depicted.
While loading the packed belongings into the car that day and finishing preparations for the farewell, Yoon Min-su told his ex-wife, "I have something to give." The item both chose at the same time was a photo of their son Yoon-hu's injured finger. He showed consideration by packing an extra copy of the same photo for his ex-wife, saying, "It's good if each of you has one."
Watching this, hosts Shin Dong-yup and Seo Jang-hoon admired, "With that much, he could probably live normally," and "She seems like such a good mother; I wonder why they divorced," while the moms' group calmly understood the couple's choice, saying, "Her smile won't be a real smile."
A few hours later, the house with all the moving boxes removed. In the empty space, Yoon Min-su said his final farewell, "I'm leaving, live well. Call me if there's anything you don't know."
And Yoon Min-su began to stand on his own. In the car after the move, he seemed to relax as he spoke on the phone with his mother. When he tried to reassure her with, "They say if you move on a rainy day you'll live well," an unexpected remark came.
The mother's sudden "live-in offer," "Wouldn't it be possible for mom to live with you at your house?" Yoon Min-su, embarrassed, waved his hand and said, "No, mom, why are you like that?" but his mother conveyed sincerity, "Let me nag you. Because of that, you did well. Next time let's live together." Yoon Min-su hurriedly tried to dodge, saying, "If I move to a bigger house later..." then, faced again with his mother's proposal, "Let's live together, mom," he replied, "All right," and put it on hold. The studio then erupted with support, saying, "If you live with your mother she'll take care of you and it'll be better."
Immediately after the broadcast, comments continued with messages of empathy and support. Responses included, "A truly adult farewell... the way they respect each other is admirable," "It would be nice to live with mom! I support the new roommate," "I hope they keep the relationship pretty for Yoon-hu's sake," and "It's more reassuring to have family by your side than being alone."
Yoon Min-su quietly wrapped up 20 years. Attention focused on whether he will share his new life chapter with his mother as his new roommate. Above all, warm encouragement continues for his courageous start.
