In the episode airing at 10 p.m. on the 28th, on TV CHOSUN's Our baby is being born again (directed by Lee Seung-hoon, Kim Jun / writer Jang Ju-yeon), childbirth correspondents Park Su-hong and Sayuri meet a family about to become five members with the imminent birth of their third child. The mother, who has a first daughter with developmental and intellectual disabilities and gave birth to a son the following year, said she awaited meeting the third child, noting, "As the happiness from the first and second children accumulated, we planned for a third."
The first child with developmental disabilities showed no abnormalities in prenatal testing and was born by natural delivery without major problems. However, after birth the child showed signs of hypoglycemia and, after detailed testing, was diagnosed with a chromosomal microdeletion in which part of a chromosome was missing. It was such a rare malformation that even an obstetrician said, "This is the first time I have actually seen this defect," indicating the very low probability. Because of the chromosomal abnormality, the first child, though five years old, had weak muscles and could not walk, and the organs were also weak. The mother said, "At first it was hard to accept. Still, the baby was so pretty and my husband and I found the strength to carry on. The happiness the first child gives is so great." She added, "Children with chromosomal abnormalities usually miscarry at six to eight weeks. Having beaten a 0.01% chance and come as a miracle, the first child was destined to meet me," expressing profound love.
Upon hearing their story, Sayuri packed toys and clothes for her son Jen and met the expectant mother again to offer heartfelt support. Because of her experience with the first child, the mother was anxious about the third with a worried 'what if' mindset. To make matters worse, the baby was lying facing upward, making a difficult delivery likely. If labor is prolonged due to a difficult delivery, the risk of brain damage for the baby increases, so the situation could not be reassured. When Sayuri asked what she wanted to do when the baby was born, the mother said, "I want to see the face first. Chromosomal abnormalities have facial features, so I checked that with the second child too..." showing both hope and worry.
When labor began the mother kept shouting, "The baby is coming down. Please hurry," repeatedly calling for haste.
