Lee Seung-chul married actress Kang Moon-young in 1995 but divorced after two years. He later remarried in 2007 to a businessman two years his senior and had his eldest daughter, and the following year he had a second daughter.
About his eldest daughter, Lee Seung-chul recalled, "She is a child I gave birth to in my heart," and said they first met when she was in the third year of middle school. Saying he became especially close to his daughter, Lee Seung-chul confessed, "Even now, while preparing for the wedding she keeps calling me and keeping me very busy. In particular, Lee Seung-chul even planned his eldest daughter's wedding himself. He explained, "This wedding I'll walk in holding my daughter's hand," and said, "I planned the whole wedding from start to finish. I edited and created all the music, the bride's entrance song and the groom's entrance song."
