Group BTS member RM will appear as a keynote speaker at the CEO Summit, an ancillary event of the APEC leaders' meeting in Gyeongju on the 29th.
According to the music industry on the 27th, RM will, as part of a cultural session, share his views on "Cultural and creative industries in the APEC region and the soft power of K-culture" for about 10 minutes from 3:05 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. on the second day of the APEC CEO Summit, the 29th.
The APEC CEO Summit is one of the most prestigious multilateral meetings where global CEOs, prominent experts and senior economic leaders from each country gather, and this year it is held under the theme "Bridge, Business, Beyond." In particular, this leaders' meeting will focus on innovative industries and emerging trends that are reshaping the global economic landscape, such as energy transition, digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI) and health care.
RM is the first K-pop singer to speak at the APEC CEO Summit event, and although the specific content of his speech has not been disclosed, he is expected to share various stories about K-culture based on his experience as a member of BTS, who have been hailed as "21st-century pop icons" and have made a mark on the popular music world as global artists.
Previously, BTS practiced positive influence through two speeches at the U.N. General Assembly and the "LOVE MYSELF" campaign they have carried out with the Korea Committee for UNICEF since 2017.
Meanwhile, the APEC CEO Summit will be held from the 28th to the 31st to coincide with the APEC leaders' meeting, and about 1,700 people, including 16 leaders from the 21 APEC member economies and corporate representatives, will attend.
