'Hangout With Yoo' Yoo Jae-suk was embroiled in allegations of embezzling club dues(?), but ultimately satisfied members with a value-packed tour course.
The episode of the MBC entertainment program 'Hangout With Yoo' that aired on the 25th unveiled the first regular meeting of the club 'Comma, Club' and the interview with new candidate actor Kim Kwang-kyu for 'Insamo (gathering of unpopular people)', delivering a variety of laughs.
The metropolitan household rating for that episode was 4.8%, ranking first among Saturday variety shows. The key indicator measuring channel competitiveness and buzz, the 2049 rating, was 2.3%, marking the fourth consecutive week the program ranked first among all Saturday programs including variety shows and drama. Yoo Jae-suk was exuberant about the shopping course that soothed 'Comma, Club' members' complaints, and when Joo Woo-jae bought a gift for his parents the minute-by-minute peak rating surged to 5.9% (Nielsen Korea, metropolitan).
Club president Yoo Jae-suk pushed for 'Comma, Club''s first regular meeting to mark autumn. When members arrived they began self-introductions, and Yoo Jae-suk introduced himself by the nickname 'Autumn Man'. Haha said 'Seoritae', Joo Woo-jae said 'Jobuda', Lee Yi-kyung said 'ImF', Ha Dong-kyun said 'Mountain grandpa', and Heo Kyung-hwan said 'half water, half fish'. Immediately Yoo Jae-suk collected 50,000 won per person, distributed schedules and briefed the tour course. When he said they would visit an arboretum, an amusement park, have a meal and experience Gangnam Soho Street, members doubted, asking, "Is that possible with this amount?"
Yoo Jae-suk confidently took members to the arboretum as the first course, but it was Yeouido Park. At the free course Joo Woo-jae raised suspicions, saying, "You're not spending the dues," and Yoo Jae-suk instead raised his voice, "Then go!" to defuse it. During a short break conversations to get to know each other continued. Yoo Jae-suk said, "I'm single(?)," and revealed, "I like traveling the world. I went to Egypt(?)," and Haha and Joo Woo-jae teased, "So you had that in mind," prompting laughter.
Next Yoo Jae-suk took members to an amusement park, but the destination was the district office. Members eyed it suspiciously until they gasped at a giant 15-meter slide inside the district office. But 187 cm-tall Joo Woo-jae couldn't ride because of the height restriction, and Yoo Jae-suk, who had not checked, said, "I'll give you the money later. Please go down." Except for Joo Woo-jae, everyone enjoyed the slide enthusiastically, but the free-course admission fueled renewed suspicions of Yoo Jae-suk embezzling dues(?). The most dissatisfied, Joo Woo-jae, asked, "Where did the dues evaporate to?" and Haha filed a complaint, saying, "It feels like a scam," so Yoo Jae-suk hurriedly led members to the meal venue.
The meal venue was an unmanned cafeteria. Yoo Jae-suk was greatly embarrassed to find no owner, and the suspicious members pressed him again. While they were satisfied with the tasty meal, members anxious that the dues hadn't been spent started another round of protests.
Yoo Jae-suk tried to quell members' complaints with a final ace course: shopping. Members remained suspicious, asking, "Are we going to a junk shop?" at Yoo Jae-suk's claim that everything is sold. But when they arrived at the shopping venue, as Yoo Jae-suk had hinted(?), all items were indeed discounted. Yoo Jae-suk proudly shouted to the members gone wild for shopping, "If it weren't for me, do you think you teachers would have come here?" and for the first time the gathering became harmonious without complaints. After shopping, the remaining dues were distributed among members through a loyalty game. In the final turn, Heo Kyung-hwan and Yoo Jae-suk split 10 won each, and Yoo Jae-suk said, "Let's not see each other from now on," as they parted.
Then an interview was held with the new candidate for 'Insamo (gathering of unpopular people)'. Actor Kim Kwang-kyu, who appeared in the recently concluded popular drama 'Bon Appétit, Your Majesty', appeared and boasted to Yoo Jae-suk and Joo Woo-jae that he was about to take a reward vacation. Yoo Jae-suk egged Kim Kwang-kyu on to marry, saying, "If you marry now, Yoona would come too," and Kim Kwang-kyu, caught up in sudden marriage talk, said 'up to four years older is OK' and named his ideal type as 'straight hair woman'. Considering children he said, "If it's straight hair I look again," and Yoo Jae-suk laughed at the novel 'straight-hair flirting.'
Hoping for a blind date and running happy scenarios in his head, Kim Kwang-kyu looked suddenly depressed after receiving the 'Insamo' invitation. Kim Kwang-kyu acknowledged(?), "My friends say that compared to my fame I don't have many fans. I don't have much wealth," and the fan club 'Ramses', Kim Kwang-kyu's fan club established in 2003, has 387 members and its administrator was absent. As the conversation continued Kim Kwang-kyu perfectly matched the 'Insamo' criteria, raising interest whether he would join 'Insamo' after returning from his reward vacation.
Meanwhile, the preview for the next episode raised expectations by promising the finally assembled full lineup of 'Insamo'. It focused attention on whether the 'Insamo' candidates the members had met would actually appear, and drew interest in the glamorous lineup despite their lack of popularity. MBC 'Hangout With Yoo' airs every Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
