YouTubers Son Minsu and Im Lara, a married couple, confessed to a life-threatening situation they experienced immediately after childbirth.
On the 26th, a video titled "Thank you to everyone who was worried" was posted on the YouTube channel Enjoy Couple. In the video, Son Minsu said, "You must have been very surprised to see Lara taken to the emergency room a few days ago, but she is now recovering," updating viewers on her condition.
Im Lara recalled, "I had postpartum hemorrhage. Fortunately I received a blood transfusion and am recovering, but it was so terrifying at the time," and added, "We rode in an ambulance and went around nearby large hospitals, but none would accept her. We eventually went back to the hospital where she gave birth. I think I fainted about ten times on the way. I thought, 'I might die like this,'" recalling the tense moments.
Standing by her side, Son Minsu also expressed frustration, saying, "It was a 30- to 40-minute distance from Gangnam to the maternity hospital, but every nearby emergency room refused us. We said, 'The bleeding is severe, we must go quickly,' yet only the hospital where she delivered accepted her."
Im Lara appealed, "I once saw news about a mother who died after being transferred from hospital to hospital in an ambulance, and it didn't feel like someone else's story. People talk a lot about low birthrates, but what does that mean if mothers' lives are actually so precarious?"
Son Minsu added, "One reason Lara mustered the courage to turn on the camera was the hope that other mothers won't go through the same thing. We are fortunately recovering, but we hope this does not happen again."
Meanwhile, the two married in 2023 after a 10-year courtship, and after long in vitro fertilization procedures they welcomed twin siblings on the 14th. Im Lara, who was transported to the emergency room with postpartum hemorrhage nine days after giving birth, is currently recovering.<
