The much-talked-about film First Ride, directed by Nam Dae-jung, distributed by ㈜쇼박스, and produced by Brainshower and TH Story, which opens on Wed., Oct. 29, has reclaimed the top spot in overall movie advance ticket sales thanks to explosive acclaim.
The film First Ride surpassed cumulative advance ticket sales of 62,129 on the Korean Film Council integrated computer network, overtaking Chainsaw Man the Movie: Reze Chapter to rank first in overall movie advance ticket sales on Sat., Oct. 25. This early record breaks the advance sales of 59,657 at 2 p.m. the day before the opening for Kang Ha-neul's previous film YADANG: The Snitch and the 55,935 advance sales at 6:32 a.m. the day before the opening for director Nam Dae-jung's previous film 30 Days.
First Ride has been receiving explosive praise as the last comedy film of 2025 through large-scale word-of-mouth preview screenings and press screenings before its release.
In particular, the cheerful comedic chemistry delivered by director Nam Dae-jung and Kang Ha-neul, who reunited from 30 Days, is being judged to have perfectly targeted audience tastes. Bold and fresh actors such as Kang Ha-neul, Kim Young-kwang, Cha Eun-woo, Kang Young-seok and Han Sun-hwa also draw attention by presenting chemistry not previously seen in comedies.
In addition, with solid backing from actors skilled in comedy such as Choi Gwi-hwa, Go Gyu-pil, Yoon Kyung-ho and Kang Ji-young, First Ride completes abundant fun and high satisfaction without a weak lineup. This upward trend for First Ride is expected to gain even more momentum with its opening on Wed., Oct. 29.
First Ride is a comedy about 24-year friends who are funnier together—끝을 보는 놈 Tae-jung (Kang Ha-neul), cheerful Do-jin (Kim Young-kwang), handsome Yeon-min (Cha Eun-woo), sleepy Geum-bok (Kang Young-seok) and lovable Ok-sim (Han Sun-hwa)—as they set off on their first overseas trip. Reactions amplifying expectations include "from Kang Ha-neul to Han Sun-hwa, a crazed comedy," "a harmless film the whole family can enjoy," "an ensemble that shines like true friends," "the birth of a well-made comic play," "bursting laughter that makes you furious," and "so funny it's beyond funny."
Meanwhile, the fall's audience and press favorite One Pick comedy First Ride opens in theaters nationwide on Wed., Oct. 29.
