Rapper Microdot will hold a praise testimony gathering at a church in Incheon.
A photo of a banner announcing Microdot's testimony gathering at a church was posted on an online community bulletin board.
The released photo contained information saying "singer Microdot invited praise testimony gathering" and that it will be held at 1 p.m. on the 26th. The testimony gathering will be held at a church located in Seo-gu, Incheon, and Microdot's face photo was also noticeable.
Microdot is known to be a devout Christian, and a testimony gathering is a religious event in which a believer or pastor directly talks about their life, suffering, change, and faith experiences, conveying religious inspiration, challenges and the message of the gospel to attendees. He recently released the album "FASHERMAN" (the fisherman), which is said to contain his mission and confession of faith as a fisherman who delivers the gospel through music.
Earlier, Microdot appeared at a new album showcase last June, making a public appearance for the first time in six years since his parents' debt controversy.
Microdot's parents were accused of running a dairy farm in Jecheon, North Chungcheong Province from 1990 to 1998, borrowing about 300 million won from 14 people, failing to repay it, and fleeing to New Zealand in May 1998; they returned to Korea in April 2019 and were brought to trial.
When the controversy first emerged, Microdot's side dismissed it as "groundless," but when victims' specific testimonies surfaced, he admitted the facts and withdrew from all programs he was appearing on. Afterwards, Microdot's parents each served confirmed prison sentences of three years and one year, respectively, completed their terms and returned to New Zealand.
Tearfully apologizing that day, Microdot conveyed his sincere intent to compensate the victims, saying, "Although you and the public are giving me cold stares, I have always thought that apologizing to the victims should come first. No matter how much time passes, if given the opportunity I wanted to officially apologize to the public. That was true then and it is true now," and added, "For a long time I wondered if there could be a place to give such an official apology. I could only agonize. That agony was even a luxury. I want to apologize once again. I'm sorry. I will work hard from now on. I will also make sure to keep the promises I made," and asked for support for his future actions.
