Singer Jeong Seung-hwan demonstrates the power of an "emotional balladeer" through a full-length album.
Jeong Seung-hwan posted two highlight medleys for the full-length album "Called Love" in order on his official YouTube channel on the 23rd and 24th.
The released videos included portions of highlight tracks for a total of 10 songs—featuring the double title tracks "Bangs," "Happiness Is Difficult," and "Called Love," "That Kind of Love," "Unfinished," "Planet," "To Us," "Embrace," "What Would You Be Like," and "Up to Here"—paired with sensuous visuals that doubled immersion.
On "Called Love," the album's title instrumental showcases an emotional piano melody in "Called Love," the lyrical ballad "That Kind of Love" vividly reveals the song's emotions, "Unfinished" blends chest and head voice to melt wistfulness into freshness, and "Planet" captures Jeong Seung-hwan's distinctive sensibility with dreamy acoustic guitar and synth sounds.
Also included are "To Us," which leaves a gentle resonance in listeners' hearts with Jeong Seung-hwan's pleading vocals, "Embrace," a self-composed song by Jeong Seung-hwan that deepens the song's climax through a stark contrast between the first and second halves, "What Would You Be Like," whose minimal keys calmly guide the song's core to a serene yet overwhelming emotion, and "Up to Here," which Jeong Seung-hwan recorded in one take with himself on piano.
In particular, the first title track "Bangs" features lyrics by lyricist Park Joo-yeon, who created numerous hits that defined eras, including Cho Yong-pil's "I Wish It Were Like That Now," Byun Jin-sub's "To You Again," Yoon Sang's "The Shadow of Goodbye," and Yoon Jong-shin's "That Day Long Ago." The song captures vocalist Jeong Seung-hwan's charm well, with emotions that rise toward the latter part of the song.
The second title track "Happiness Is Difficult" includes composition participation by producer and singer-songwriter Gureum, who targets listeners' tastes with trendy sensibility. It is a medium-tempo song boasting an alluring atmosphere with a retro city-pop mood.
Thus, through the full-length album "Called Love," Jeong Seung-hwan sings about various scenes of love across the entire tracklist, his first full-length in about seven years. Including self-composed songs, Jeong Seung-hwan is expected to offer listeners the "essence of love" through deepened sensibility and musical color.
Jeong Seung-hwan will release the full-length album "Called Love" on various music sites at 6 p.m. on the 30th, and will hold an end-of-year concert, "2025 Jeong Seung-hwan's Goodbye, Winter," for three days from Dec. 5 to 7 at the Ticketlink Live Arena in Olympic Park, Songpa District, Seoul.
