The late Shin Hae-chul's son and daughter will sing their father's songs again. More than a simple tribute, the emotional power of music connecting generations will be revived on stage.
The MBC College Song Festival, which has produced countless youthful stars since 1977, is returning after 13 years. On the broadcast of 2025 MBC College Song Festival – lighting youth on the 26th, a moment more special than any other stage is prepared. It is the late Shin Hae-chul's children, Ms. Shin Ha-yeon and Mr. Shin Dong-won, who will reinterpret and perform their father's signature song "To You."
Shin Hae-chul was a legendary musician who won the grand prize at the 1988 College Song Festival with "To You," marking a page in Korean music history. And 37 years later, his son and daughter taking the stage to sing the same song itself signifies the "succession of musical generations."
The two siblings will take the stage with the stylish, skilled band LUCY to newly interpret their father's song with today's youthful sensibility. It is expected to be a "resurrection stage" that carries on the late Shin Hae-chul's musical spirit and message into the language of the present, not merely a tribute that repeats the past.
The sincerity, freedom and youth that were Shin Hae-chul's philosophy for viewing the world through music are now revived by his children. This stage, which continues across generations, proves that music does not die with time and that a father's legacy continues forever through song.
Meanwhile, this College Song Festival will feature judges including Yoon Sang, Lee Juck, Park Kal-lin, Lee Won-seok, Lee Young-hyun, Yuk Joong-wan and Kim Yong-jun, and will include spectacular celebratory stages by EX's Lee Sang-mi, WOODZ (WOODYZ), Dynamic Duo & SINCE, Lee Mu-jin, LUCY and Xdinary Heroes.
