'Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant' Lee Chan-won achieved his ninth win with 'Amazing pork cutlet'.
On the KBS 2TV variety show Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant, which aired on the 24th, the results of the menu competition themed 'meat' were revealed. Purehearted chef Kim Kang-woo, Chan-tto chef Lee Chan-won, and gymnastics fairy Son Yeon-jae presented their signature meat dishes and engaged in fierce competition. Amid lavish praise that "all three are winners," the honor of release went to Chan-tto chef Lee Chan-won's extra-large 'Amazing pork cutlet'.
Earlier, Lee Chan-won visited his alma mater, Yeungnam University, and drew attention by revealing the 'youth support project part 1', in which he gave a warm meal to 20-something juniors worried about the future. On that day Lee Chan-won visited his alma mater Gyeongwon High School as 'youth support project part 2' and gave anxious juniors facing the college entrance exam memories that let them forget their worries and smile for a while.
That day Lee Chan-won found a list of 'people who brought honor to the school' at his alma mater. It included the name of Lee Chan-won, winner of the 2024 KBS Entertainment Awards. Lee Chan-won, proud, laughed in surprise, saying, "They update really fast." He then looked for the principal and his former teachers. He said he is a student who never forgets to give flowers to his teachers on Teacher's Day every year. Blushing at the teachers' praise, Lee Chan-won also laughed.
Lee Chan-won then prepared a surprise event without the knowledge of the 600 students and many staff members. Students gathered in the auditorium knowing nothing. With a trembling heart, Lee Chan-won headed for the auditorium so he would not be discovered. Moments after he appeared, thunderous applause erupted. Lee Chan-won said, "I've been on many stages since my debut, but today feels like the most nerve-wracking and meaningful moment."
Lee Chan-won sang for the students and listened to their concerns. He also performed an impromptu duet for a junior who, after sharing the stage with him at a concert, dreamed of becoming a trot singer. The students reacted explosively, saying, "All my stress is gone" and "It was so fun."
Lee Chan-won's youth support project part 2 did not end there. For juniors staying late at school to study ahead of the college entrance exam, he prepared the 'Chan-tto snack truck.' Using a whopping 40kg of chicken, Lee Chan-won personally made 200 servings of large-capacity rice-fried chicken gangjeong. While engrossed in preparing the snack truck, Lee Chan-won spotted someone and rushed out in a hurry. The person he greeted was the dormitory matron from his school days.
Upon seeing the matron, Lee Chan-won immediately showed his joy and respect by performing a deep bow on the bare floor. The matron could not hide her delight at the sight of her still-humble and well-mannered former student. The warm reunion between teacher and student moved viewers at home.
That day Lee Chan-won presented his final menu: an extra-large 'Amazing pork cutlet' with a meat weight of 250g, about twice the commercial size, for hungry youths. He said 250g is the maximum size that can fit in an air fryer. He paired it with a ssamjang sesame mayo sauce that juniors praised. Lee Chan-won's 'Amazing pork cutlet' won first place amid rousing praise and was selected as the release menu.
Achieving nine wins and ascending to '9 Chan-won,' Lee Chan-won said of his victory, "I will share this honor with my juniors at my alma mater."
