In Just Makeup, the last-touch revival round by Korea's top representative makeup artists delivered emotion.
On the 24th, episode 7 of the Coupang Play original variety show Just Makeup, released on the 24th, featured a revival round between the SonTail team and the MacTist team, losers from the round 3 K-pop stage. In round 3, the Paris Golden Hands team and the First Man team won, securing all members' advancement to round 4. The SonTail team and the MacTist team, conversely, became all nominated for elimination.
But it was not a complete elimination. Before round 4, one final revival round awaited. The revival spots to compete in round 4 alongside the eight members of the winning teams were allowed for only two people. Accordingly, the makeup artists who had worked together as a team in the previous round had to return to competing individually in the revival round.
The theme of the revival round was 'Last touch: my final emotion.' The models who appeared with the theme looked somewhat familiar. They were imitations of the makeup artists' first appearances on Just Makeup when they entered the revival round. Each artist had to complete their 'last touch' by conveying their emotions to their model using only 'lipstick.'
Only a 60-minute time limit and the limited material of lipstick. Even so, the makeup artists' creative fervor shone. First, SonTail brought the cubist style of world painter Pablo Picasso to life on the model's face through contrast between blue and white lip products. When Just Makeup ended, SonTail's complex feelings, both refreshing and regretful, were contained, drawing attention.
Beauty Wang-eonni recalled herself starting makeup in her 20s and bloomed flowers on the model's face, Neverdead Queen used bruised faces to express an unbowed original intention with the theme of returning to basics. Makeup Room Mr. Kim used makeup to show indignation over a complete defeat, and Yesle's Hall expressed confident dignity despite the loss, moving viewers to tears.
1st Empress Myeongseong also projected herself, who for more than 20 years had never forgotten black eyeliner at dawn, onto the model's face, and Royal Family implemented a sharp feeling after defeat with a seductive red lip. Finally, MacTist expressed the emotions when they were completely defeated 0 to 5 by the First Man team with makeup of diverse colors and textures unbelievable for lipstick, drawing admiration.
As a result, SonTail and MacTist survived the revival round. Judge Lee Sa-bae said, "It seemed inspiration struck as soon as the mission was received. The bold execution with two carrels was something only an artist's creativity could do. The thick, rough-looking lines firmly holding their place resembled SonTail." In addition, judge Seo Ok explained MacTist's passing reason, saying, "The decisive reason was perfect expressiveness. They expressed the heat of the rising petals and even sweat with only lipstick and created dimensionality with a limited formulation."
Coincidentally, only the team leaders of the round 3 losing teams survived. Both SonTail and MacTist showed tears, as if overwhelmed with mixed feelings of apology toward their team members. Rather, the eliminated makeup artists comforted SonTail and MacTist, saying, "I hope our team leader gets first place," "The time we spent together was truly happy," "Thank you for taking care of me," "You are my number one pick." This brought judges Lee Sa-bae, Seo Ok, and JUNGSAEMMOOL to redden their eyes, adding to the emotion.
Meanwhile, at the end of episode 7, MC Lee Hyori toasted the makeup artists who survived. Moreover, she foreshadowed the tense round 4, in which only three people will survive to the final round, increasing the tension.<
