Broadcast personality Seo Dong-ju revealed why she does not buy luxury goods.
On the 23rd, a new video titled "Subscribers! We invite you to our home" was uploaded to Seo Dong-ju's YouTube channel.
That day Seo Dong-ju announced a flea market to be held in her yard on Nov. 1 and introduced, one by one, the items she will sell at the flea market. The revenue will be donated. Seo Dong-ju repeatedly took out items from the same brand and said, "There are things I bought and haven't even opened. I don't have luxury goods. If I like something, I buy only from that place a lot."
Seo Dong-ju said, "It would be best if you just come comfortably. Dobong District might actually be far. Think of it as casually going out for a stroll, and since Uicheon is nearby, they've decorated it nicely like Cheonggyecheon," adding, "I think it'd be good if you come thinking you'll take a walk there. The neighborhood is quaint. It's not the hip Seongsu pop-up or Apgujeong pop-up vibe. It's like a neighborhood festival."
Regarding why she doesn't buy luxury goods, Seo Dong-ju said, "First, I'm trying to avoid leather consumption as much as possible, and luxury goods are often leather. So if it's a non-leather product, I sometimes use luxury goods. And another thing is I'm not of a wealthy style. I live according to my level."
Seo Dong-ju recalled an old story and said, "I recently attended a VIP event. It was a very large brand event, and I drive a compact car. I went in my compact car, but there were a line of very nice cars and mine was stuck in between them."
Seo Dong-ju said, "But the staff thought I had entered by mistake and told me to turn and leave, saying the event is in session, so go out. When I got out of the car, the brand event hall in front had floor-to-ceiling windows and dozens of employees were staring. I usually don't care about that kind of thing, but when I saw them watching and got out, it was embarrassing."
When Seo Dong-ju expressed embarrassment, the production team asked, "Are you thinking of changing your car?" Seo Dong-ju said, "I applied because they said the next Ray is coming out," showing her continued love for compact cars.
Meanwhile, Seo Dong-ju, the daughter of actress Seo Jeong-hee and the late comedian Seo Se-won's daughter, married a non-celebrity husband who is four years younger on June 4. Her husband is known to be a director at the agency of broadcaster Jang Sung-kyu.
