The flagship MBC variety show "King of Mask Singer," which marks its 10th anniversary this year, will take a short break. It will switch to a seasonal format and return with a new look in the second half of next year.
According to MBC on the 24th, "King of Mask Singer" will air through the episodes recorded in December this year and then enter a retooling period. Afterward, it decided to relaunch in a seasonal format in the second half of next year through upgrades tailored to global trends.
First aired in April 2015, "King of Mask Singer" is a mystery music show where contestants hide their age, gender, and profession, discard prejudice, and compete using only their voices. Its format has been sold to more than 50 countries worldwide. Even now, it is being produced and broadcast in seasonal formats in countries around the world.
MBC said, "Through the shift to a seasonal format, 'King of Mask Singer' will showcase more engaging competition formats and high-quality stages by a diverse lineup of contestants," adding, "We ask for your anticipation as we take a brief break to come back better, and look forward to returning in 2026."
