"First Ride" Kang Ha-neul mentioned the behind-the-scenes story of the group chat that Han Sun-hwa mentioned.
On the morning of the 24th at a cafe in Sogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, an interview was held with lead actor Kang Ha-neul of the film "First Ride."
The film "First Ride" (director Nam Dae-jung, distributed by SHOWBOX, produced by Brainshower·TH Story) is a comedy about five 24-year friends whose personalities — the guy who sees things through Taejeong (Kang Ha-neul), the cheerful guy Dojin (Kim Young-kwang), the handsome guy Yeonmin (Cha Eun-woo), the guy who sleeps with his eyes open Geumbok (Kang Young-seok), and the lovable Ok-sim (Han Sun-hwa) — make their first overseas trip even funnier when they get together. It is a chaotic comedy film that depicts the extreme friendship of five friends whose long-awaited first trip turned into a complete madcap trip.
Kang Ha-neul delivered a passionate performance as Jeong Tae-jeong, who not only scored perfectly on the college entrance exam but also landed a position as a chief of staff. Following the box office hit "30" released in 2023, he reunited once again with director Nam Dae-jung, raising expectations.
This year Kang Ha-neul appeared in numerous works including the theatrical films "Streaming" and "YADANG: The Snitch," Netflix's "Squid Game 3" and "Wall To Wall," and Genie TV's "Tastefully Yours." Working like an ox, he even earned the nickname "Monthly Kang Ha-neul."
Earlier, at the production presentation Han Sun-hwa said she was moved to tears after receiving Kang Ha-neul's text messages and advice, and Kang Ha-neul said, "The script I saw of Sun-hwa at that time was really like a rag. It was tattered. She had written so much and looked at it so much that it was all crumpled, and it had become a well-worn book. I was grateful that she did that for this project. It's not solely my work, but I was very thankful that she prepared with so much passion."
He continued, "It wasn't advice, just seeing how she worked so hard for our project showed how she would act in other works... She was so, so admirable. Sun-hwa came to acting after walking a different path as a singer, so she must have pride or ego about that path, but she came without any of that and went all in, which I thought was cool. I respected her in that way. It wasn't advice, it was things like 'thank you, I was moved.'"
But recently Han Sun-hwa confessed on MBC FM4U's Noon Hope Song Kim Shin-young that "I'm not in the 'First Ride' group chat. The brothers have it among themselves, but I'm not upset," adding, "Maybe the brothers have things to say among themselves. When I have something to say, I tell them personally," which drew laughs. She also showed a hint of disappointment, saying, "Honestly, I was going to casually mention it (the group chat), but the brothers might have things to say among themselves."
Kang Ha-neul said, "We definitely didn't leave her out. (laughs) I don't even know who created that group chat," and explained, "At that time in Thailand, Sun-hwa returned to Korea first while the three of us (Kang Ha-neul, Kim Young-kwang, Kang Young-seok) remained. So it was created on set during the Thailand shoot. Now even I am not in it," and he added, "What's so important about that group chat. (laughs) I'll delete that chat and make a new one right in front of Han Sun-hwa," which made people laugh.
Meanwhile, "First Ride" opens on the 29th.
