Actor Mu Jin-seong is injecting tension with a performance that provokes anger in the drama Typhoon Family.
On the first broadcast on the 11th of the tvN Saturday-Sunday drama Typhoon Family (directed by Na Jeong Lee and Dong-hwi Kim, written by Hyun Jang, planned by Studio Dragon, produced by Imaginus·Studio PIC·Tris Studio), Mu Jin-seong plays a novice company man who becomes the president of a trading company with no employees, no money and nothing to sell after the 1997 IMF, and the drama depicts the hard-fought coming-of-age story of Kang Taepung (played by Junho Lee).
In the drama, Mu Jin-seong plays Kang Taepung's rival Pyoh Yeon-jun. He is a character who always harbors envy and jealousy toward Kang Taepung and hides feelings of inferiority, and he completes a chilling villain with sharp eyes, a twisted attitude and inscrutable emotional lines. He solidified the character image and revealed charisma with detailed items that evoke the 1997 era atmosphere, such as slicked-back hair, asymmetric earrings and sunglasses.
In particular, Mu Jin-seong delivered a presence that overturned the atmosphere moment by moment with just his facial expressions and eyes. He perfectly embodied a viciously contorted smile, spark-like eyes toward his rival and an attitude that provokes anger beyond annoyance, establishing himself as the key villain responsible for the drama's overall tension.
In episodes 3 and 4 broadcast on the 17th and 18th, Pyoh Yeon-jun watched Kang Taepung, who had been swindled in a fabric warehouse contract by his father Pyo Sang-seon (played by Sang-ho Kim), and with a mean smile he taunted him playfully while displaying a cruel and merciless attitude that raised viewers' anger and immersion at the same time. Mu Jin-seong made the drama chilling with a cold, arrogant facial performance that dominated the screen, forming a full-fledged rival dynamic and emerging as the central axis of the story's development.
Last year Mu Jin-seong first made an impression as the hateable villain Yeon Mo-yong in the Disney+ original The Tyrant. Unlike the humorous charm of his previous work, in this project he proves another face as the villain Pyoh Yeon-jun, equipped with malice, obsession and exploding inferiority, expanding his spectrum.
Meanwhile, Typhoon Family, which stars Mu Jin-seong, airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9:10 p.m. on tvN.
