Lee Young-ae, Kim Young-kwang and Park Yong-woo face a final choice at the end of tragedy and ruin.
With only two episodes left until the finale, Walking On Thin Ice, a KBS 2TV weekend miniseries (directed by Song Hyun-wook / written by Jeon Young-shin / produced by Baram Pictures and Slingshot Studio), revealed its final viewing points.
Earlier, Lee Kyung (played by Kim Young-kwang), who resumed the partnership with Kang Eun-soo (played by Lee Young-ae), persuaded her that the only way to stop Jang Tae-gu's (played by Park Yong-woo) rampage was to eliminate him. Eun-soo, tormented by remorse, accepted his proposal to put things back in place, but because Tae-gu, who knew all the facts, intervened, the two's plan came to nothing. In unpredictable developments, the desire to protect family ultimately led to a tragedy that destroyed them, and the tension reached a climax.
◆ Lee Young-ae's final choice to protect Bae Soo-bin and Kim Si-a
Eun-soo, who stepped into the world of crime to raise money for her husband's medical bills and loans, stands at the cruelest crossroads of her life. When her husband Park Do-jin (played by Bae Soo-bin) learns of Eun-soo's crimes and even their daughter Park Su-a (played by Kim Si-a) is put in danger, the "family's shelter" she tried to protect is shaken to its core.
Eun-soo was tormented by guilt when the dangerous choice she made to regain an ordinary life led to another tragedy. Not only that, but Eun-soo, who drove a car into Tae-gu to save Lee Kyung, faced an irreversible fate. Questions grow about what meaning Eun-soo's final choice in the face of an unbearable weight of guilt will give to Walking On Thin Ice.
◆ Whether Kim Young-kwang's revenge succeeds on the border between sin and forgiveness
Lee Kyung, who was framed for murder 10 years ago and abandoned by his family, has lived only for revenge. His final goal is punishment aimed at Tuen Group heir Hwi-rim (played by Do Sang-woo) and to uncover the truth that destroyed him so he can return to his family. But as the decisive day approaches, a hidden secret is revealed and Lee Kyung falls into crisis once more.
Can he complete the final partnership with Eun-soo and achieve revenge? Lee Kyung's final choice, standing at the crossroads of revenge and salvation, sin and forgiveness, emerges as the biggest viewing point for the finale.
◆ Destruction caused by misplaced paternal love: Park Yong-woo's end
Tae-gu's desire, which started from an obsession to get his son back, ultimately destroyed himself and everyone around him. He believed his choices were for his family, but his paternal love gradually turned into madness, and only an irreversible catastrophe awaits at the end. The finale reveals why Tae-gu, once a righteous detective, had to become a monster and the conclusion of his twisted love and desire.
In episodes 11 and the finale, Eun-soo, who tried to protect her family; Lee Kyung, who lost his family; and Tae-gu, who became obsessed with his family—all three characters' choices interlock and reveal the true meaning of the title Walking On Thin Ice. Even at the end of despair, the love people cannot let go of, and the remorse and forgiveness that bloom within it, will explode. Attention is focused on what endings the three will meet at the end of their sins and fates.
The production team said, "All characters' choices ultimately lead to the single word 'family.' In episodes 11 and the finale, viewers will deeply feel the ironic meaning of Walking On Thin Ice along with the duality of human nature," adding, "In particular, the final episode will be specially scheduled for 95 minutes, and it will be an unmissable development until the end, so we ask for your interest and anticipation."
Meanwhile, Walking On Thin Ice episodes 11 and the finale will air on the 25th and 26th at 9:20 p.m.
