Former 2NE1 member Park Bom sparked controversy by mentioning "unpaid settlements" and "filing a complaint" against YG Entertainment executive producer Yang Hyun-suk, and it was reported that Yang was actually worried about Park Bom.
On the 23rd, a senior pop music official told OSEN, "Yang Hyun-suk felt no hurt or anger after seeing Park Bom's social media post; rather, he was worried," and added, "Above all, he was concerned about Park Bom's health."
Earlier, on the 22nd Park Bom uploaded a complaint to her social media that specified "defendant Yang Hyun-suk," placing herself at the center of the controversy. Park Bom listed the charges as fraud and embezzlement and wrote, "The defendant did not properly pay the revenue from the plaintiff's participation in music releases, performances, broadcasts, advertisements, events, lyric writing, composition and all other activities," and claimed, "That amount is estimated to be approximately 1002003004006007001000034 64272e trillion won." Netizens questioned the astronomical figure listed in this way.
Also, the complaint Park Bom posted contained many parts that did not match the actual format, and the post was deleted once and then reuploaded, increasing the confusion.
Attention also turned to the producer Yang's side. He is said to have still shown affection for Park Bom, having fully supported the members and laid the groundwork for a full-group comeback during 2NE1's 15th anniversary reunion last year. A source added, "To Yang Hyun-suk, 2NE1 is still a special presence. He sincerely hopes Park Bom regains her health."
Meanwhile, Park Bom's agency Dineation Entertainment on the 23rd issued an official statement saying, "Settlements related to 2NE1 activities have already been completed, and the complaint in question has not actually been filed," and explained, "Park Bom is currently suspending all activities due to health reasons and is focused on treatment." After the agency's clarification, the controversy appears to have settled for the time being.
Park Bom has been on a temporary hiatus from activities since her health worsened in August.
