Kim Song (52), the wife of Klong member Kang Won-rae (55) and a singer, sparred with internet users over the issue of suspects related to a Cambodian crime organization who were repatriated.
On the 22nd, Kim Song posted on her social media (SNS) a post titled "Revealing the faces of Korean female members of a Cambodian organization" along with the comment, "With the Democratic Party involved, they will all be released again or have the severity of their crimes watered down." The post included the faces of Korean female criminals arrested locally in Cambodia.
Some internet users raised issues, saying Kim Song's post was politically biased. In response, Kim countered with comments such as, "Please read the article about five of the 64 suspects who came on a charter flight being released," "Then is the People Power Party involved? The Democratic Party has everything under control," and "They left the victims behind and brought only the suspects on a charter flight."
As the controversy continued, Kim Song switched the post to private. But soon after, along with a photo showing her face, Kim took aim again at the internet users who criticized her, saying, "The dogs are barking a lot today. Noisy, you 'naeronambul' (romance when I do it, adultery when others do)."
Earlier, on the 18th, the government used a charter flight to repatriate more than 60 Koreans who were caught in a crackdown by local Cambodian police on a criminal compound. Most of them are suspects for whom arrest warrants were issued in Korea.
Police are investigating 64 suspects repatriated on charges of taking part in Cambodian romance scam crimes. Of these, four have been released, and an arrest warrant for one was returned. Detention warrants have been issued for some suspects due to concerns about flight risk and evidence destruction.
