(Continuing from interview ②) Hong Kyung, an actor in the film Good News, heaped praise on senior actors Sul KyungGu and Ryu SeungBeom.
Hong Kyung conducted an interview on the morning of the 21st at a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. At this meeting he met with domestic reporters and talked about the recently released Netflix film Good News (director Byun Seong-hyun) and his recent activities.
Good News is set in the 1970s and depicts a suspicious operation by people who gathered to land a kidnapped plane by any means necessary. In it, Hong Kyung gave a passionate performance as elite air force controller Seo Go-myeong.
In it, Hong Kyung worked alongside senior actors including Sul KyungGu as the role of someone and Ryu SeungBeom as Park Sang-hyun. Hong Kyung expressed his emotion about working with Sul KyungGu and Ryu SeungBeom, calling them "great seniors."
He said, "The word 'truly great' seems to suit them. Because I grew up watching the seniors' filmographies since I was young, when I see things everyone knows like 'Peppermint Candy' and 'Oasis' it's truly astonishing. It's unbelievable. That someone of the same generation did those kinds of things."
He continued, "When you meet the senior, until the end there probably wasn't much information about me as an actor, but they just trusted me. Not for a single moment did they doubt what I was doing; they trusted that this kid was Gomyung. That trust was extremely important. Under that trust I could be bolder. I could explore more possibilities with the director. That trust seemed important. I could dance under the seniors' protective shield," expressing deep gratitude.
Hong Kyung also said, "SeungBeom senior has tremendous energy. How to put it into words... I really learned a lot," clicking his tongue. He added that it was no different from before. He said he approached it with the same life-or-death attitude as before. However, he was often overwhelmed by the seniors' flexibility and energy. He emphasized, "Working with SeungBeom senior and KyungGu senior, the best thing as an actor was that I could closely observe how the seniors prepare, and that was an invaluable lesson."
