The band Oasis reunited despite past discord and returned to the Korean stage for the first time in 16 years.
Oasis held their South Korea concert (OASIS Live '25 South Korea) on the 21st at Goyang Sports Complex in Gyeonggi and reunited with Korean fans.
Formed in 1991, Oasis left behind numerous hit songs such as "Wonderwall", "Don't Look Back in Anger", and "Live Forever" and gained worldwide popularity.
However, due to extreme discord between brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, Oasis broke up ahead of a Paris concert in 2009, and the two formed separate bands and continued their musical activities. In the years that followed, various speculations about Oasis's reunion continued, but the two consistently denied them.
After fans' long wait and 15 years since the band's breakup, on Aug. 2024 the two officially confirmed the band's return by announcing the Oasis Live '25 world tour schedule with the comment "The great wait is over," thrilling fans.
Their ties with Korea were also steady. Their first concert in Korea in 2006 sold out, and in 2009 they visited Korea twice in one year as a solo act and a festival headliner. At that time, they specially performed "Live Forever," which they did not often play on tour, showing special affection for domestic fans.
As it was a reunion and a visit to Korea after 16 years, the on-site excitement was intense from early on. Despite the cold weather, audiences gathered from early morning, and some fans who could not get tickets listened and cheered around the venue. With about 55,000 people in attendance, Oasis delivered an uninterrupted parade of hits over a running time of more than two hours.
Holding hands and raising their arms as they entered together, brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher opened with "Hello" and continued a parade of classics spanning generations, including "Morning Glory", "Some Might Say", "Supersonic", "Roll With It", "Stand by Me", "Whatever", and "Live Forever."
On the stage for "Cigarettes & Alcohol," at Liam's suggestion the audience turned around, linked shoulders and ran together, and during "Talk Tonight" the audience responded by waving phone flashlights. The crowd also stood up all the way to the third tier and answered with a mass singalong, raising the atmosphere.
Oasis showcased unchanged cohesion with a full two-hour stage, and for the final encore they sang their signature songs "Don't Look Back in Anger", "Wonderwall" and "Champagne Supernova" in order, ending with a spectacular fireworks display.
While performing, the Gallagher brothers shouted "Beautiful" and "Thank you" to express their love for Korean fans.
After finishing their performances in Korea, Oasis will continue their tour in Japan, Australia, Argentina, Chile and Brazil.
