Actor Jeon Won-ju revealed the home where Jeon has lived for more than 20 years and shared an unusual way of saving.
On the 21st, Jeon Won-ju showed the house and everyday habits through a video posted to Jeon's YouTube channel titled "Did SK Hynix stock rise 20 times? Home prices shot up 21 times, frugal house reveal by 'Jeon Buffett' Jeon Won-ju."
Jeon Won-ju kept using the front gate even though it was broken and only half-opened. Jeon said, "(At the entrance) the electricity bill is high," urging the crew to come inside quickly. Jeon lived without turning on the lights inside the house and, even when told "it's dark," said, "It's fine. I can see everything."
Jeon then turned on the light, saying, "The electricity bill is high, so I don't turn it on, but I'll turn it on especially."
Jeon Won-ju said Jeon usually "unplugs even the cords of appliances that aren't in use," adding, "If you plug it in, it uses electricity. You have to unplug it completely." Jeon also shared a tip about using only one bulb in a fixture that holds four, saying, "It's bright enough with just one on."
Jeon Won-ju said, "An (electricity) meter reader came to check. The bill was so low that they thought it was wrong and came to verify," adding, "The monthly (electricity bill) comes to 2,000–3,000 won, under 5,000 won." The bill Jeon disclosed also showed 8,130 won for water and 1,100 won for city gas.
About the current home, Jeon said, "I bought it as a quick sale for 200 million won." Jeon added, "It has been more than 20 years since I bought this house. The mountain is close, and the view is satisfying. When I get up, I open all the windows and sing."
The production team said, "We called a nearby real estate office to ask how much this place is," and played the call with a certified real estate agent. The asking price the real estate office gave for the home was 4.2 billion won.
Surprised by the home's value, Jeon Won-ju said, "This house saved me," adding, "I started to break out after coming here, and the money started to pile up. A few times real estate people came by, but I didn't want to sell," revealing affection.
It is known that Jeon Won-ju invested in stocks and more with the money saved and earned big profits. Showing a bank receipt on the table, Jeon said, "This is all taxes I paid," adding, "Tens of millions of won went out as taxes, and it turns out I owned a lot of land I didn't even know well. Back when I had no work, I only went in and out of real estate offices, and I bought only what came up as urgent sales then."
