HYBE and Geffen Records' global girl group KATSEYE is once again setting a new personal best on Billboard's main song charts in the United States.
According to the latest U.S. Billboard chart released on the 21st (local time) (Oct. 25 issue), the track "Gabriela" from their second EP "BEAUTIFUL CHAOS" rose 13 spots from the previous week to No. 41 on the Hot 100. "Gnarly" also re-entered the Hot 100 at No. 98, giving KATSEYE two songs on the chart at the same time.
Their seemingly unstoppable surge in popularity stands out. Although "Gabriela" and "Gnarly" were released as digital singles roughly four months and six months ago respectively, they have continued to climb the charts over time in a reverse-charting surge.
The EP "BEAUTIFUL CHAOS," which includes the two songs, rose one spot from the previous week to No. 29 on the main album chart, the Billboard 200. It has remained on the chart for 16 consecutive weeks since reaching No. 4 on the July 12 issue.
Now entering only their second year since debut, KATSEYE has demonstrated deep-rooted mainstream pop popularity by standing out not only on Billboard's main charts but also on streaming, download and airplay charts. The balanced growth across diverse indicators is encouraging.
On Billboard's Global 200, which ranks songs based on streaming in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide, "Gabriela" settled at No. 30 (17th consecutive week) and at No. 27 (17th consecutive week) on the Global Excl. U.S. chart. "Gnarly" is positioned at No. 102 and No. 114 respectively, entering both charts for 24 consecutive weeks and enjoying long-term success.
On Billboard's Pop Airplay, which tallies radio broadcast points, "Gabriela" ranked No. 17 for a second consecutive week, the highest position ever for the group on that chart. Since entering the chart at No. 37 in mid-August, it has steadily risen for 11 consecutive weeks.
"Gabriela" earlier broke the group's record by reaching No. 38 on the latest U.K. Official Singles Top 100 chart (Oct. 17–23). It reached No. 22 on Spotify's Weekly Top Songs Global (Oct. 10–16), marking 17 consecutive weeks on that chart, and "Gnarly" (No. 108, 24 cumulative weeks) and "Touch" (No. 167, 21 cumulative weeks) have also continued to receive steady support.
KATSEYE, born under Chairperson Bang Si-hyuk's "K-pop methodology," was selected through the global audition project "The Debut: Dream Academy," which involved 120,000 participants worldwide. They then debuted in the United States after undergoing HYBE America's systematic training and development (T&D) system.
They begin their first solo tour "BEAUTIFUL CHAOS," comprising 16 shows across 13 North American cities, on Nov. 15. In April next year they will also take the stage at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, the world's largest music festival.
