"Ms. Incognito" Ju Hyun-young's "tough outside, warm inside" (tough-looking but warm-hearted) performance shook last night.
As the Genie TV original "Ms. Incognito" races toward its climax, Ju Hyun-young, who plays Baek Hye-ji, is manipulating viewers' hearts. The Baek Hye-ji she plays is an unpredictable variable who could go anywhere. This stands out in front of Kim Young-ran (played by Jeon Yeo-bin), whom she calls a friend.
Baek Hye-ji delivers barbed warnings that squeeze the life out of Kim Young-ran, yet calmly says that what she wants is simply to eat together, drink coffee and watch movies. Baek Hye-ji's behavior, which is somehow suspicious to call friendship, simultaneously creates tension and the pleasure of speculation.
Baek Hye-ji's hot-and-cold moments amplified the fun of "Ms. Incognito" episode 8. Late at night, her suspicious footsteps caught attention. Baek Hye-ji was secretly following Kim Young-ran. With a cold look unreadable in her mind, she eavesdropped on the conversation between Kim Young-ran and Jeon Dong-min (played by Jinyoung), raising endless curiosity about her true intentions.
At the end of the episode, the mood reversed 180 degrees because of Baek Hye-ji's sincerity. She threw herself without hesitation to save Kim Young-ran, who had been kidnapped by Gil Ho-se (played by Yang Jung-won), then sobbed while checking Kim Young-ran's condition, tugging at viewers' heartstrings.
The sigh of relief was short-lived as Baek Hye-ji tightened the strings of tension. Gil Ho-se changed targets and stabbed her with a knife. With an all-time ending, viewers' determination to watch the next episode live is growing stronger as to how Baek Hye-ji's future will unfold.
Through "Ms. Incognito," Ju Hyun-young reached another peak in her acting. After adopting a chilling face and aura, she exquisitely portrayed a mysterious character who makes viewers suspicious each time, then moved the living room with deep emotional acting that conveyed a warm heart.
With Ju Hyun-young's solid skills layered onto the three-dimensional character of Baek Hye-ji, an inexhaustible, varied showcase of acting unfolded. Viewers responded positively with comments such as "I hope Ju Hyun-young eases up," "She seems to act so well," and "I can't imagine Baek Hye-ji without Ju Hyun-young."
As attention focuses on what other exploits Ju Hyun-young will show in remaining episodes, "Ms. Incognito" airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 p.m. on ENA, and the OTT is available on TVING.
