The new drama "Spirit Fingers" grabbed attention by releasing still cuts of Jo Jun-young's model-like presence, dubbed the "charm genius." The character, who was extremely popular as a "2D boyfriend" in the webtoon original, has been perfectly reborn as a "3D boyfriend."
"Spirit Fingers" (directed by Lee Cheol-ha / written by Jeong Yoon-jeong and Kwon I-ji / original by Han Gyeong-chal / produced by Number Three Pictures Co., Ltd., MI and Kenaz) is a work that portrays the colorful healing romance of young people who set out to find their own colors. In the drama, Jo Jun-young plays Nam Gi-jeong, a model who captivates everyone's attention with his innate physique and overwhelming visuals, and he is expected to showcase both uninhibited charm and cheerful energy.
The still cuts released today (the 22nd) foreshadow Gi-jeong as the "charm genius" who alternates between cynical charisma as a model and a free spirit. Gi-jeong, who becomes the model for the painting group "Spirit Fingers" because of his sister Green (Park Yu-na), stares off somewhere wearing a white outfit and a fedora, presenting visuals like a fashion spread.
Under intense lighting, his appearance in a leopard shirt, as if dominating the stage, emits an overwhelming aura. Conversely, in a still shot where he stands in front of a bright background wearing a sleeveless top, boyish charm and the healthy energy of youth emerge, completing a twist of appeal. In the previously released highlight video, Gi-jeong's superior looks were revealed to cause his follower count on SNS to increase exponentially even without retouching.
When Gi-jeong declares, in response to the spelling provocation of "Spirit Fingers" member Song Woo-yeon (Park Ji-hoo), "I'm not going to be a model anymore, I'm going to join, become a Spirit Fingers member!" a current of change is sensed in this young man's life. Expectations rise over how he will create a colorful romance through chance encounters and what ripple effects his unpredictable, straightforward style will produce.
Regarding Gi-jeong, Jo Jun-young said, "You could call him 'my way.' He is a character who lives by his own convictions without being swayed by others' gazes," and though he may appear bold and free-spirited on the surface, he harbors delicate emotions and a firm sincerity inside. This dual charm will sometimes create tension and sometimes create excitement in the drama, adding depth to the character. As a character popular enough among original fans to be called a "2D boyfriend," Jo Jun-young made meticulous efforts to bring Gi-jeong into 3D. He said, "We prepared a lot to actually realize Gi-jeong's striking styling from the original. We continuously consulted with the stylist on outfits that could bring out the character's personality, including the bowl haircut and the red school uniform."
The production team said, "Jo Jun-young is an actor who possesses both Gi-jeong's innate model presence and boyish charm. As shown in the released images, his diverse charms that aid Woo-yeon's growth will deliver fresh fun and excitement to viewers," and added, "Please look forward to the growth and changes Gi-jeong will show in the midst of youth."
The new drama "Spirit Fingers" will be exclusively released on TVING on Oct. 29 (Wed).<
