MimiminU, an admissions content creator with 1.87 million subscribers, was sued by a guest on her YouTube channel on charges including defamation.
On the 21st, the police said the Seoul Seocho Police Station received a complaint earlier this month from a person in their 20s identified as A asking that MimiminU be punished on charges of defamation and insult, and launched an investigation.
A appeared on MimiminU's YouTube channel in February last year and then left the program after allegations spread on online communities that "she stole classmates' laptops when she was a high school student." MimiminU, while conducting a live broadcast, also read malicious comments about A saying the allegations were true.
In the complaint, A alleged that as a result she was diagnosed with bipolar affective disorder and even made an extreme attempt.
MimiminU runs a YouTube channel providing admissions-related content to test takers based on her experience of entering the Department of Public Administration at Korea University after five tries.
