Actor Ryu Hyun-kyung greets audiences as a film director, taking the megaphone for the feature film "Don't Confess."
Ryu Hyun-kyung will bring her first feature film, "Don't Confess," to the Namdo Film Festival Season 2 Gwangyang, which opens on the 23rd.
In her first feature film, "Don't Confess," Ryu Hyun-kyung handled production, directing, and screenwriting, and she also handled grants and editing, adding care and precision throughout the work.
The film "Don't Confess" reflects director Ryu Hyun-kyung's perspective in a love story that unravels the tension, confessions and the time after between a man and a woman who meet on a film set. The work was also invited to the "Festival Choice Feature" section of the 2024 Seoul Independent Film Festival and received favorable reviews.
Ryu Hyun-kyung will also meet audiences at this festival with the 2010 short film "Robber," which she directed and appeared in. She is also listed among the screening works in "Namdo's Gaze," a special section that compiles short films made by leading Korean actors who took up the megaphone to try directing, so she will meet audiences with two works, making it a meaningful festival outing in many ways.
Ryu Hyun-kyung, who has long shown solid acting skills and a distinctive charm, has built her own acting world by working across various works regardless of genre, including film, drama and theater.
She drew attention as an all-rounder artist by simultaneously directing and starring in the music video for Radi's new song "Like Old Days." Recently, she successfully returned to the screen through the film "No Parking."
Meanwhile, the Namdo Film Festival Season 2 Gwangyang, where Ryu Hyun-kyung appears as an actor and director, will be held for five days from the 23rd to the 27th under the theme "dyed by light and iron" as the Namdo sky deepens in autumn, screening 81 films from 12 countries.
