The "Hip-Pop Princess" has left a strong impact and is proving its talented credentials since its first broadcast.
"Unpretty Rapstar: Hip-Pop Princess" (hereafter "Hip-Pop Princess") is a new Korea-Japan joint project from Mnet to form a hip-hop group. Aiming to create a new global hip-hop group, the contestants directly participate in every process — music, choreography, styling, and video production — revealing their own colors.
After the first broadcast on Thursday the 16th, behind-the-scenes stills from episode 1 were released and caught attention. The scene of a 40-person Korea-Japan contestant self-introduction cypher that heated the stage intensely was captured. The released photos fully convey each contestant's individuality, charm and charisma, further heightening expectations.
The "Hip-Pop Princess" is drawing attention with the arrival of talented contestants who have self-producing capabilities. Within the skill-focused format that inherits the DNA of "Unpretty Rapstar," contestants' abilities that transcend nationality and appearance are being spotlighted one after another, and the fandom is rapidly expanding.
The offline "no filter showcase" of the 40 contestants held before the broadcast is also being revisited, and the contestants' solid skills are again being talked about. At the scene where all contestants performed with handheld microphones live, enthusiastic responses such as "That's really cool" and "I can't wait for their debut" poured in. With the presence of talented contestants spreading by word of mouth after just the first episode, anticipation for the stages to come is also rising.
Meanwhile, after entering the first track competition, the "Hip-Pop Challenge," in episode 1 and intensifying tension with a fierce Korea-Japan matchup, "Hip-Pop Princess" will unveil the still-unreleased "Hip-Pop Challenge" stage and lift the veil on the mission results in episode 2, which airs Thursday the 23rd.
"Hip-Pop Princess" airs every Thursday at 9:50 p.m. KST on Mnet and is available in Japan through U-NEXT.
