'Dear X' stars Kim Yoo-jung, Kim Young-dae and Kim Do-hoon entwine beautifully and dangerously.
On the 22nd, the TVING original series 'Dear X' (written by Choi Ja-won and Ban Ji-woon, directed by Lee Eung-bok and Park So-hyun) released special posters of Baek A-jin (Kim Yoo-jung), Yoon Joon-seo (played by Kim Young-dae) and Kim Jae-oh (played by Kim Do-hoon).
'Dear X' depicts the story of Baek A-jin, a woman who wears a mask to escape Hellbound and climb to the highest place, and the Xs who were brutally trampled by her. It raises expectations by foreshadowing the birth of a destructive melodrama suspense that captures Baek A-jin's ruin, who hides a cruel true nature behind a beautiful face, and Yoon Joon-seo's love, who chose Hellbound to protect her.
The series is based on a popular webtoon of the same name with a global fandom, and is directed by legendary hitmaker Lee Eung-bok, who created Sweet Home, Mr. Sunshine, Goblin and Descendants of the Sun, and director Park So-hyun, known for sensitive and delicate direction. Writers include Choi Ja-won, who won the grand prize in the 2018 KBS one-act play script contest, and webtoon original author Ban Ji-woon. Above all, the meeting of rising young actors such as Kim Yoo-jung, Kim Young-dae, Kim Do-hoon and Lee Yeol-eum, who will maximize the genre's thrills, is exciting drama fans even more.
Meanwhile, the released special poster focuses attention on the tense and subtle triangle between Baek A-jin, Yoon Joon-seo and Kim Jae-oh. First, Baek A-jin radiates a powerful presence in a crimson dress. Her cold, parched gaze, as if looking down, evokes tension. The figures of Yoon Joon-seo and Kim Jae-oh surrounding Baek A-jin also capture the eye. Yoon Joon-seo stands behind Baek A-jin to protect her, while Kim Jae-oh leans into her as if nestled in her arms, creating atmospheres that are similar yet different. Above the two men's tender and desperate hands holding Baek A-jin is the phrase "my dear X who brilliantly perishes," which somehow hints at the precariousness of their relationship.
The "relationships" of the characters standing on the border between salvation and destruction are an indispensable point of interest in 'Dear X.' Regarding this, Kim Yoo-jung, who plays the woman Baek A-jin who wears a mask to survive, said, "Baek A-jin and Yoon Joon-seo could be described as a 'connection of the times.' They met as children and even as adults, time seems to have stopped; they lived in a childlike way and ultimately missed the period when they would grow apart. Please watch how they relate to and influence each other."
Kim Young-dae, who plays the man Yoon Joon-seo who believed salvation was love, said, "Yoon Joon-seo supports and sympathizes with Baek A-jin with absolute devotion, but he gradually cracks and rushes toward ruin amid unavoidable conflict." Kim Do-hoon, who plays Baek A-jin's blind helper Kim Jae-oh, explained, "To Kim Jae-oh, Baek A-jin is the person who gave him a reason to live. Kim Jae-oh, who could not even love himself, became someone needed by another person because of her single word," heightening curiosity.
'Dear X' will premiere with episodes 1 through 4 on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 6 p.m.. <
