A in her 40s, a singer and announcer who has been active in Jinju, South Gyeongsang, has been indicted and detained on charges of assaulting and neglecting her teenage biological daughter, causing her death, shocking the local community.
The Changwon District Prosecutors' Office Jinju Branch Criminal Division 2 (Director General prosecutor Lee Hye-hyun) said on the 21st that A was indicted and detained on charges of killing and abandoning her biological daughter. According to the investigation, on the 22nd of last month at a residence in Namhae County, after assaulting her biological daughter B, she poured hot water, causing burns, and left her daughter in a vehicle for more than two days while the daughter complained of pain. As a result, B ultimately died.
At the time, A took her daughter to the hospital, but medical staff found bruises all over B's body and what appeared to be marks from being hit with a blunt object and immediately reported it to the police. A testified, "I came home from work and found my daughter unconscious and took her to the hospital," but the circumstances at the scene and the victim's condition raised suspicions about the crime.
A had worked in the Jinju area as an announcer, singer, YouTube channel operator and various promotional ambassador, but has been removed from her ambassador position because of this case. It was reported that the day before the incident she participated with her daughter in a fire drill event hosted by the Namhae Fire Station, adding to the shock.
The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the crime and the extent of the assault, and are also pursuing investigations into additional signs of abuse. The case has delivered a severe shock to the local community as the brutal violence and neglect toward the biological daughter were revealed.<
