Park Eun-hye and Hwang Dong-joo's "battle for Mari" has been set in motion.
On the 20th, episode 6 of the KBS 1TV daily drama Marie and Her Three Daddies (directed by Seo Yong-soo, written by Kim Hong-joo) showed Ju Si-ra (played by Park Eun-hye) and Kang Min-bo (played by Hwang Dong-joo) clashing over daughter Kang Mari (played by Ha Seung-ri), and a four-way confrontation in the hospital between Mari and the three father candidates Lee Poong-ju (played by Ryu Jin), Kang Min-bo, and Jin Gi-sik (played by Gong Jung-hwan).
In last week's episode, Mari, who was working a part-time job, chased after a customer who stole an item and found herself in danger of being injured. Although she was rescued from the crisis with the help of Lee Kang-se (played by Hyun-woo), Mari became angry thinking she would have to pay for the item. Kang-se likewise didn't understand Mari's attitude, asking, "Have you gone soft about money?" The two who argued went to volunteer at an orphanage together, reconciled, and deepened their relationship.
In yesterday's episode, Mari poured out her true feelings about Kang-se to her friend Ahn Soo-seon (played by Lee Ji-yeon). Mari said, "(Senior Kang-se) is someone who keeps appearing in front of me," but added, "I don't have the luxury to be swayed or excited by those feelings." Watching Mari, whose head is already troubled by family problems, try to push away even love made viewers feel sympathetic.
Meanwhile, Si-ra and Min-bo fiercely confronted each other over Mari. The two, who met at a hotel, exchanged sharp words such as "Now that she's grown up, aren't you being greedy?" and "No mother would block her child's future because of one emotion," and engaged in a fierce war of words.
Unable to get through to Si-ra, Min-bo called Si-ra's maternal aunt who had handled the artificial insemination, Eom Gi-boon (played by Jung Ae-ri). Heading to Eom Hospital, Min-bo toured the sperm center with Gi-boon and asked her to help Mari go to the United States. When Gi-boon showed reluctance, Min-bo repeatedly pleaded for Mari in exchange for becoming a test subject at the sperm center.
Meanwhile, Moon Sook-hee (played by Park Hyun-jung), Eom Hospital's financial director and Si-ra's friend, asked Mari to help Poong-ju by finding a part-time worker with medical knowledge. Later, Mari headed to Eom Hospital's sperm center to deliver a USB that a postpartum care center nurse had asked her to, and mistakenly handed it to Poong-ju, whose name was similar to the intended recipient. Poong-ju criticized her, saying, "Even if you're a part-timer, isn't it too easy to give materials to just anyone?" Witnessing this, Gi-sik took Mari's side and escalated the conflict.
At one point, Mari noticed Min-bo and pretended to know him. A cleaning tool in the hospital fell toward Mari after being knocked by a custodian, putting her in danger, and both Min-bo and Gi-sik jumped in at the same time to save her. Fortunately, Poong-ju, who was standing next to Mari, evacuated her safely and the crisis was averted for the time being. The meeting of these four foreshadowed the whirlwind of fate that the upcoming chaotic "parentage scandal" will bring, capturing viewers' attention.
