The group sound band Jannabi (Choi Jung-hoon, Kim Do-hyung) completes a warm and lyrical "Jannabi-style life narrative."
Jannabi will release their fourth full-length album Sound of Music pt.2 : LIFE at 6 p.m. on the 21st on various online music sites.
Pt.2 : LIFE, which follows pt.1 that captured the romance of youth last spring and the summer side story, shows the band's essence at the season's peak. As the subtitle "LIFE" suggests, Jannabi's distinctive philosophical narrative and mature emotions blend to portray the joys and sorrows of life through music.
Through this album, Jannabi sincerely unpacks "why we love music" and "why we sing about life," following life's journey across 12 tracks from the start of each day to the years gone by, youth, love and aging.
First, there is "Earth," which depicts the daily landing of putting your feet on the bed; "After School Activity," which captures adolescent rebellion; "Oh, New York City," which portrays youthful ambition felt in New York; "Jack Kerouac," featuring Yang Hee-eun singing the whirlpool of youth; and "Mother," a generational empathy song featuring Lee Su-hyun of AKMU, with various scenes of life connected organically.
Here, the album lyrically traces the flow of life from "Mountain Dweller," which sings about aging; "A Tale of Daring in Summer 1," which recalls the most summery times; "TV commercial for summer night feat. sweat and stardust (skit)," which twists Jannabi's summer and fantasy world; "Mia's memories and the universe," a long sketch completed in autumn scenery; "All the boys and girls 3 : Glory," which connects dreams and reality; and the ending "Sound of Music," which closes the journey with love and gratitude for music.
Among them, the title track "First Love, Farewell-" is a ballad that combines Jannabi's signature lyricism and lush orchestration; it confronts the self that has become an adult within the memories of first love. It is not simply a song reminiscing about first love but expands into a reflection on the self of that time and the time that has passed. It naturally continues Jannabi's emotional lineage from "For hesitant lovers" and "Thoughts on an autumn night," completing Jannabi's "autumn mood."
The music video teaser for the title track First Love, Farewell– released ahead of the album also amplifies Jannabi's poetic sentiment. The flutter of boyhood and girlhood that brushes past in everyday moments unfolds plainly, portraying first love neatly and plainly. Warm color tones and a tone and mood that recall youthful memories lead into a fairytale-like sensibility and leave a lingering impression.
Jannabi's fourth full-length album Sound of Music pt.2 : LIFE, returned with autumn lyricism, is available to listen on various online music sites starting at 6 p.m. today (the 21st).
